:Rayman 1 does not take place in a different world. Who told you that? I feel like I've been through this a million times. This game shows that Rayman's birth and subsequent meeting with Globox took place prior to the events of Rayman 1, firmly driving the last nail into the coffin of that particular theory (which never made any logical sense to begin with, but I digress).
