Hey Spiral. Thanks for your addition to the Chamber of the Teensies article, it's always great to have a lot of pictures. But just keep in mind that black stripes have to be removed before you upload them to the wiki, for they're quite ugly and useless ;) — Hunchman801 22:11, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I'll keep it in mind in future. --Spiraldoor 18:21, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

What made you blank the 'River of Lava' and the 'Flying Shell' page? -- Acarr 18:32 30th October 2009

it was some kid maing shitty articles of them reading like they're from GameFAQs. --RKartHead.gif StaceyW 19:23, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

Why did you remove the informatian and link about the xowar in the loadingscreen? -sansebas

It wasn't very coherent or well-written; I had to read through that particular paragraph a couple of times to understand it. I'll add the information back in shortly. By the way, you should start signing your comments with four tildes (~ <--- those things). Spiraldoor 14:25, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

The Mawpaws are indeed the Flabar, could u take care of this? --Sansebas 18:52 26th February 2010

Thanks, I'll do that in a moment. Spiraldoor 17:58, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

You've done a great job for making a page for the valley, but i dont think it is in the glade of dreams, there is a rayman2 promotional video which show rayman in 2D, than going through a portal to the 3D world (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KujjiLYaW8). The flora and fauna is also very different than in rayman 2 and rayman 3. So please, could you keep the valley, the glade of dreams and the crossroad of dreams seperated? --Sansebas 21:40, 24 March 2010

We've seen and discussed that video before, and we came to the conclusion that it's simply depicting Rayman's transition from 2D to 3D, not him being warped to another dimension or anything. Notice that there are hundreds of ones and zeroes in the background while Rayman is turning 3D, hinting at the digital/technological nature of the transition. There's also an enormous amount of evidence pointing towards Rayman 1 being in the same world as Rayman 2 and 3, but that's been discussed ad nauseum over the last few years on the forums and I'd rather not get into it here. You'll notice that I've not stated that the valley is in the Glade of Dreams for certain, just that it's the most likely possibility. That video shouldn't be taken too seriously anyway, considering that it's just an early promotional advertisement showcasing an early version of the game (and many elements visible in the video weren't found in the final product, anyway).
As for the Glade of Dreams and the Crossroads of Dreams, they are one and the same. In the original French, they were both known as La Croisée des Rêves (The Crossroads of Dreams). For some reason, the English translation of Rayman 2 changed 'Crossroads' to 'Glade', but the English translation of Rayman 3 left things the way they were. Hope that helps. —Spiraldoor 15:43, 25 March 2010 (UTC)

Innaccuracy Edit

About my edit...Sorry about that! I thought I had e-mailed Ubisoft when I asked that but I actually e-mailed a Ubisoft FAN CLUB...Therefore my edits were not wront, but they were in fact innaccurate. Sorry about that and I hope that mistakes like those never happen again!

Thank you,

Moving?

Howdy Spiral, how do you move pages? I'm not fully aware of the capacities of the Wiki. --Haruka 19:15, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

There's a 'move' button at the top of every article, a bit to the right of the 'edit' button. I think normal editors can move pages but I'm not 100% sure. —Spiraldoor 19:17, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Are there ranks for RayWiki editors? I checked and I saw the button. Thanks for clearing my doubt. :) --Haruka 19:19, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
Not exactly. Me, Hunch, Stacey and Foultzboyz are sysops, which is the wiki equivalent of moderators. We have a few extra privileges (the ability to delete articles, to edit the main page, things like that) but apart from that, everyone is equal. —Spiraldoor 19:23, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
I see. I couldn't delete the article anyway since I'm not a sysop. Thanks again.--Haruka 19:48, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Rayman Junior levels

Hey spiral, I can see you've been adding capital letters to the names of the articles about levels in Rayman Junior, however they are always spelled without them, whether it is in the game on in the manual. I don't think it's a typography convention either, as Mr Dark's name is spelled with capitals though. Not that it's very important, but I just wanted to let you know! —Hunchman801 02:13, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure if it's that clear-cut. As far as I can tell, Rayman Junior and Rayman Designer have exactly the same font and naming conventions for levels. Designer spells every world name in the lower case ('Band land', 'Candy chateau' 'The dream forest' and so on), with the odd exception of 'The caves of Skops' (which shows that it is not simply a typographical convention). As we know from the original game, these lower-case spellings are not correct. Also in Rayman Designer – level names in the menus appear with proper capitalisation ('The Sky's the Limit', 'Fruity Fun' etc), but when you highlight them they turn completely lower-case ('the sky's the limit', 'fruity fun'). My point is that the capitalisation conventions used in the Rayman 1 spin-offs is a bit dodgy and self-contradictory, so perhaps we should revert to the standard capitalisation rules that we use for the levels from every other Rayman game. —Spiraldoor 12:34, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
I'm fine with your point :) —Hunchman801 15:04, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
I actually prefer it this way. --RKartHead.gif StaceyW 17:21, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Redirecting

I have a question. How can I redirect search words to their respective pages? --Haruka 17:29, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

You need to type the title of the page you want to redirect into the search bar on the left (for example, if you wanted to redirect 'Xovar' to 'Xowar', you would enter 'Xovar' into the search bar). Click 'Go', and it should take you to a page that says 'There is no page titled "xovar". You can create this page.' Click on the red 'create this page' link, and it will take you to a blank page. Type '#REDIRECT [[Xowar]]', then click 'Submit' to create the redirect. —Spiraldoor 17:42, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much. :D I think this isn't listed in the help section but anyway. ^^ --Haruka 18:14, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Images

Do you have any ideas of which pictures are need now or that need to be substituted?

By the way, don't interpret this badly but are my writings that bad? --Haruka 17:34, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

I think we need more pictures from Rayman 3. So far, each Rayman 3 level article only has one or two images (and some of the articles are very short too, but that's another issue).
Your writing isn't bad. It's easy to understand what you're saying, it's just that sometimes your wording is a little strange. For example, you recently wrote a sentence beginning with ‘Rayman's symbol in his chest starts to react’ – there's nothing wrong about it, but it sounds slightly odd, so I changed it to ‘The symbol on Rayman's chest starts to react’. You shouldn't let this sort of thing discourage you from contributing to the wiki – I often edit other members' sentences to make them sound better too (yes iHeckler I am looking at you). It shouldn't matter if your sentence structure gets changed – the information itself survives, and that's what's important. —Spiraldoor 17:46, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for clearing up my doubts. I actually quite thank English-native RayWiki contributors to do a linguistic revision to my texts and correcting them if necessary (Because I'm aware that my English is not perfect). I think it is not only Rayman 3's levels that are lacking pictures, Rayman M's levels aswell. You perhaps must remember the day I made an effort to write texts and uploading pictures in the Zenith Harbour's page. The level page was very incomplete. I will slowly take care of the remaining ones. --Haruka 17:51, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Now that I think of it, some screenshots from the Rayman 3 minigames would be great. We have one from 2D Nightmare, one for Mad Trax and two low-quality ones from 2D Madness, but that's practically all we've got for the twelve minigames. —Spiraldoor 19:08, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
As you could see I'm done with the 9 common minigame articles of R3 (with pictures aswell), that I am surprised that no-one had written about them yet (except for 2D Madness). Any suggestions for articles that need some improvement in text/pictures? --Haruka 18:56, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Most of the Rayman 3 level articles are quite short and lacking in pictures. Only the Fairy Council, the Bog of Murk and the Desert of the Knaaren really have enough text, and all nine levels need more screenshots. Nobody has ever really attempted to bring these articles up to a high standard, possibly because it's such a big undertaking. I think the Rayman 3 levels are the weakest part of the wiki right now, so feel free to have a go at them. Your minigame articles are very good. —Spiraldoor 20:15, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. I didn't change anything in 2D Madness since I think it's pretty good as it is. Rayman 3 levels? I might few by few give a shot to them. Do you think that perhaps one day I could join the Administrators team of English RayWiki? --Haruka 21:54, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
Maybe someday, but I think Hunch is the only one who can decide that. You may want to work on your English a little – it's perfectly understandable but sometimes I can tell it's not your first language, and wikis are held to a much higher standard than forum posts. In spite of this you're still by far the best candidate I can think of (no offence iHeckler), though I don't know if we need more admins right now. —Spiraldoor 12:56, 10 January 2011 (UTC)
I guess in that case I had to pick in my English grammar books and reading them again (I stopped having English classes at school two years ago). I think that's what I need to improve more. An English-native could give me suggestions in what I need to improve. Yes, I also think that Hunch has got "the veto right". --Haruka 13:28, 10 January 2011 (UTC)

File:Razorbeard escape pod.jpg

Hey Spiral, could you please tell me which version this file is from, so that I can add the 'Image' template (you can do it too of course)? —Hunchman801 16:51, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

It's from the N64 version. I almost always forget to add the template. I'll do it now. —Spiraldoor 18:21, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
Thank you! :) What about 'File:1000th_Yellow_Lum.png'? —Hunchman801 18:49, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
That one's from the N64 version. Most of my screenshots are. Project64 is much more convenient for getting screenshots than nullDC, what with the save states and fast-forwarding functionality. You can tell this particular image is from the N64 version because the Lum looks all pixellated and sprite-like. —Spiraldoor 19:02, 26 January 2011 (UTC)

Uploads

Awesome uploads today, Spiral! Let me know if you need any help to include them all in their respective articles. By the way, this reminds me that we have a total of 317 unused files at the moment, many of which could be used to illustrate our articles. It would be absolutely great to do some clean-up there, i.e. include some in the relevant articles and delete all the rest, as I don't see the point in keeping unused files. For commodity reasons, maybe we could list them here (or anywhere else) and decide with the rest of the community which to keep and which to get rid of. Any remarks or suggestions? :) — Hunchman801 17:52, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

PS: I'm visiting my grandparents in-law this week-end so I probably won't have any internet access until Monday or something.

I can help with flushing them out if you both don't have the time. --RKartHead.gif StaceyW
I few months back I replayed R2 PS1 while taking dozens and dozens of screenshots. I finally got round to selecting the useful ones and uploading them today. I was too lazy to add any of them, but I have at least one relevant page in mind for each of them; they will all be used. The same goes for most of the other pictures I've uploaded over the last few months but haven't bothered to include in any pages yet. I think we'll need to decide what we're going to do with all the Hall of Doors images, as well as the large number of GBC screenshots, but apart from those I think each image should be judged on its own merits. I will do some work soon. —Spiraldoor 20:54, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
Your help is welcome, Stace! All right guys, there you go: User_talk:Hunchman801#List_of_unused_pictures Just follow the instructions (and do short edits in case someone would do it at the same time)! —Hunchman801 20:28, 31 January 2011 (UTC)

Pages with no pictures

Spiral, is there a way to research for pages that haven't got pictures?

Because the Special pages section doesn't seem to show a category of that. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 21:01, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

As far as I'm aware, there is no way to filter articles to show only pages without images. However, you can search for short pages, many of which lack images, and you can also search for wanted files – images which are linked-to on pages, but have not yet been uploaded. If you're looking for pages that lack images, these are the closest you can get. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 21:11, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
That's what I've tried before, including the pages with the fewest revisions. This concludes that was the only way then. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 21:12, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Céloche screenshots

Hi Spiral, two of your screenshots (File:Celoche 2.jpg and File:Celoche cannon.jpg) now appear only in a small resolution, which I think wasn't the case when you uploaded them. If I'm right about this, do you still have the original versions on your computer? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 17:36, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

I got those images from iHeckler, who posted links to them on Céloche's talk page. When I open the links I still see small images, but I'm not sure if that's something to do with my cache or if they were ever large in the first place. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 18:51, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
The one on the Polish page is a little bigger than the one on the wiki, on my cache. --iHeckler9Life.gif 19:20, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
My bad then, they've always been small. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 15:32, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Knaaren

The Knaaren had a reason to try to kill Rayman first, they saw him as an intruder and many types of people to attack any intruder. Tim auke kools 16:34, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

That justification doesn't work. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 16:49, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

And what about their king Gumsi? The Knaaren stood just behind him, even when Rayman defeated Reflux, except Reflux himself, later in the story. Tim auke kools 17:03, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Gumsi is a different issue. He is a neutral character. It's like the case of the mask guardians of Rayman 2. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 18:01, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
The article is about the Knaaren race in general, and they very definitely are enemies. Gumsi is a specific character whose alignment has no bearing on that of the malevolent Knaaren who stalk the tunnels while shouting things like 'tear off his flesh'. To the best of my knowledge the Knaaren's motivations are never explored in the same way that the Guardians' motivations are; they remain one-dimensional killing machines. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 18:39, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Gumsi is itself a Knaaren and his breed is loyal to him, he is their king. Tim auke kools 18:47, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Alright Tim. Let me spell it out for you:
  • If the Queen did something illegal (for example, touching up a child), does that mean everyone in her country would see that as OK because she did it? No, it's wrong, gross and creepy.
  • If Gumsi's nice and kind-hearted, it doesn't necessarily mean that the Knaaren have to be too. I hope this has cleared up any doubts. --iHeckler9Life.gif 18:57, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

The Knaaren just did their job by attacking Rayman, they protect their territory against intruders. Tim auke kools 19:25, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

If I recall correctly, the Knaaren attack Rayman and Globox as soon as they tumble helplessly into the tunnels, and show no sign of mercy or consideration. It is not our place to speculate regarding their social customs or morality. They are enemies, and they attack our heroes for no discernible reason; for the purposes of our 'enemy' template this makes them 'bad'. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 20:23, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Swords

Well, how do they hold them? They have a hook in one hand an a gun in the other. No hands. --iHeckler9Life.gif 19:02, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Swords? Don't you mean drills? --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 19:37, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
Check the Robo-Pirate page. --iHeckler9Life.gif 19:57, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
I just don't think it's worth mentioning that 'how they hold the swords is unknown'. It's obvious that the developers didn't come up with some secret way for the Robo-Pirates to pick the swords up with their hooks or anything like that. It's cartoon logic, and you're approaching it in a far too realistic way. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 20:23, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Mr Dark Artwork

Are you sure about putting Mr Dark's artwork in the Magician's article? Actually, it is confirmed to be Mr Dark on the website, which clearly states (possibly to avoid this situation) that it's the same Mr Dark from rayman 1, the one who stole the Great Protoon. However, we can't confirm that he's the Magician as well, as he doesn't have physical resamblance (Mr Dark looks more like the Photographer, thiner and with enormous feet). Only the hat seems to have a resamblance.

It's pretty clear that the dark character we see on the website is supposed to be the Magician. (Whether the Magician is an alter-ego or an admirer of Mr Dark is another question.) If you look closely, you can see that his top hat is similar to the Magician's, that he has the nose of a Teensy, and that he has the same grey hair as the Magician. He also appears to have similar purple and dark-blue clothing. Do you really think that this and this are two different characters, despite their extremely similar appearance, and the fact that the second one doesn't actually appear in the game?
I don't know if the Magician is Mr Dark himself or a Mr Dark imitator, but either way, I have no doubt that it's the Magician standing on that hilltop. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 20:52, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Some help to update myself

Howdy Spiral, I'm back. :)

Are you able to tell me what got changed in the RayWiki in the last 2 months? It appears to be impossible for me to see every edit done since then, I've just tried to use the "Recent changes" page but I think it won't show what I pretend. I want to see the major edits/creations done to the RayWiki since my absence, since I want to continue to contribute for this project. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 23:22, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

I haven't been keeping track, so I can't really remember specific things that happened two months ago. I guess we've written lots of Rayman Origins articles while you were away, including some information about characters like Tarayzan that was in the Origins script but not in the final game. We've also finally started adding information about English with Rayman. We haven't been able to come to a decision regarding Mr Dark and the Magician, so we've attempted to explain the confusion in both pages. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 14:09, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, pretty much all Rayman Origins levels articles are created and I've been trying to fatten them up with infoboxes, descriptions and stuff, along with stuff about the characters. --Cairnie 16:00, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
I also noticed that some pages got updated, like the Archipelago article (which did not exist, but it concerns about the islands of the Glade), some character pages, World of Toys... I guess it is just a matter of time. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 19:44, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Rayman's voice acting in Rayman Origins

Sorry spiral, but I'm pretty sure that Douglas Rand voices Rayman in Rayman Origins; he may sound high-pitched, but if you pay attention and hear his voice, there's no way that rayman is voiced by a female. His voice is also quite similar to the Magician's. Think about this: why would the developers use a girl to portray a male hero for his heroic return to platformers? No offense to the female dubbers, but it seems inappropiate. Sorry for what I'm going to say, but if your logic is right, Super Mario is totally voiced by a girl.--Sergiomonty 22:44, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

It's not as uncommon as you seem to think; many male cartoon characters are voiced by women, including Bart Simpson and some of the kids from the Rugrats. As far as I can recall, Rayman does not speak at all in Origins – his only vocalisations in the game are the panting and grunting sounds he makes when he jumps or gets hit, and they sound quite feminine to me. (And is he the one who says 'Eck-point-chay'? I'm pretty sure that's a woman.) It's safe to assume that Douglas Rand voiced characters like Globox and the Bubble Dreamer, as they've got very deep voices that could only have been provided by a man, but Rayman's voice in the game is too ambiguous to say for certain. I don't think we should list any actor as providing Rayman's voice in Origins until we know for sure who it was. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 22:55, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

News

Um, I think Suckerberg has closed the account on the Battle Royale page, that or I just can't get to it from here. Would it be worth removing the mention of Battle Royale, or keeping it up until Rayman has been confirmed for it? --iHeckler9Life.gif 15:15, 14 June 2012 (CEST)

Thanks, I'd forgotten about that. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 17:59, 14 June 2012 (CEST)

Unused files

Could you please go through the unused files and integrate those you've uploaded into the relevant articles (or delete them if they're useless now)? Please note that while files only used in other versions of the wiki still appear in the “Unused files” page, the “Global file usage” section on the file page is now functional and should be checked before any deletion. That's right. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 23:43, 27 September 2012 (CEST)
Its me who is doing an year of break now, I'll try to enter in Uni in September 2013. I'll do my best in helping the most I can for Raywiki during this break.
