Lianas are first seen in the very first level of [[Rayman 1|the original ''Rayman'' game]], [[Pink Plant Woods]]. Their primary purpose in [[the Dream Forest]] is to allow [[Rayman]] to climb them to reach higher areas to advance or find a specific item.

In [[Rayman (Atari Jaguar)|the Atari Jaguar version]], the leaves of the lianas are colourized differently. Instead of pink and purple, the leaves are dark pink and aqua with a small shade of purple.

In ''[[Rayman Junior]]'' and ''[[Rayman Designer]]'', dangerous lianas with pinkish thorns appear. If [[Rayman]] tries to climb on these lianas, he will get hurt.
