I think it's time to clear up things. For some weird reason, I see people using the word glute (which stands for ass, basically) to refer to Globox's species. So, before the Horrible Unofficial Content Crusher sweeps it all away, is there any reliable source which indicates that it's true?

Only 3 google pages show up when you type in "globox glute", mostly links to fanfictions. I also think Raymanian shouldn't be used as the name of Rayman's species, but only as what the gibberish is called in Rayman Revolution.

Species: Unknown seemed perfect to me. Or limbless, but it's not really a species, and not an official name either.

Well, apparently the word Glute is used somewhere in Rayman 3. I haven't heard it, but other people claim they have. I think have unknown, but also mention that people think they are called glutes.

I don't think 'glute' is the official name of Globox's species, I havent heard it before in the games and after searching on Google all I can see is fan fictions. I used to think he was a frog.. Maybe 'Globox' is the species?

Well, all you need to do is play Rayman 3 to hear his Glute comments and well, if Globox is not a glute, Murfy is not a Green bottle Fly.

Just because Globox calls himself a "glute" it doesn't really mean that he is one. And why else do you think that his babies are often referred to as "baby globoxes"?

And about Murfy, he's a greenbottle because it was officially revealed in the Rayman 3 manual.

The fact that Globox's babies are called Baby Globoxes has always made me think that Globox is also the name of the species.

In HHQ part 1, when you are carrying a ball in a zigzag fashion to get to the top of the room, the secretary says "will the incredible blue glute please" report to her or something like that.

Um, I think their species is actually called Globox, in the DC version there are all these other globoxes that just go around with the name Globox.

I was surprised when people called him a glute too, trust me. ^^ My friends refer to him as a frog. And one even called him a mutated garbage can, due to his mouth! XD I don't know what the heck Globox's species is. I guess that's what also makes him fun. We have no clue as to what the heck he is! But that's also kind of the same with Rayman...

But... I kind of agree with Jman.

Well, one possibility is that they didn't make up the word glute until Rayman 3, which was why they were referred to as Globoxes in R2. But it seems that there are now two instances of the word Glute being used, so I'm starting to think it might actually be the proper term.

No Globox. Glue Box.

I think that "Globox" is the name of the family(after Rayman gets the raindance mask, Uglette says "now you can do the raindance, just like the Globox family")

I think the species is called "glute" and glute families take their names from the father.

Once again, there is no proof that it is the name of the species. It seems obvious to me that the word glute was a reference to Globox's ass, and it makes no sense to use it for the species.
Now, it would be nice to know if Globox is the name of the species too.
