Well there's the problem... anyone know which month RJ and R1 for the GBC were released? It was during the year of 2000... plus Rayman for the GBC was an adaptation. the original released in 1995, and this being released in 2000... so with that, can you honestly say Rayman went and did the same thing twice? Because that's what an adaptation is. They just took rayman 1 and redid it. owospiraldoor said:

And the GBC game’s conflicting, Rayman 2-ish representation of the valley. I suppose the canonicity of R2 GBC is out of the question to its bastardisation of the Four Masks of Polokus. My only problem with R3 GBA really was the fact that they focused around the Robot Pirates and Razorbeard way more then Andre. Levels from R2 were brought back too, especially two bosses such as Jano and Razordbeard in his mech. But that's my only issue with it. Good point. He does get exhausted a few times, but you always aim for the staff he holds, not anywhere physically hurting.
Now that I mention his staff, has anyone else noticed sometimes you can actually beat the staff out of his hands? He flails his arms like mad and then calls it back like a Jedi using the force, or something. XD This usually happens to me just before he uses a firestorm.

Yeah, it seems like the staff is connected to his stamina, because he is affected by it when you attack it, and he is knocked out on the last hit and you can hear his staff breaking. It actually kind of reminds me of Starfy 2, where when you damage one of the bosses (There is usually a rider and a mount), both appear to be damaged, and they die together on the last hit.
I'm sorry, but I'd like to know just what it is about R2 GBC that makes everybody hate it so much. Sure, it had some weird artwork, was kind of glitchy, and simplified the storyline a bit too much, but it was still a fun little distraction. Certainly not a great game, but to call it the worst of them when there are games like Rayman Rush and the DS version of TV Party out there? That's a little harsh. At least this one retained the simplistic gameplay and cute (albeit slightly distorted) graphics of the first GBC game.spiraldoor said:

Next, it reuses many assets from the GBC version of Rayman 1, making it feel more like an expansion pack than a game of its own. For example, many of the sprites are the same (though they’ve become uglier in the second game), and the music is the same but with an annoying MIDI drum beat added. The game doesn’t even attempt to be a worthy approximation of its namesake; at least R1 GBC displayed artworks that told the story between levels, but R2 GBC used far less, and often reused the same (ugly) artworks again and again.
