I actually think it's very naive that there are people now shutting down the outcry over Trump, because he said he's fine with marriage and told harassers to stop (Wow, let's all pat him on the back for not liking violence and homophobia
). If anything it just seems to be the
exact kind of thinking people criticised Obama/Clinton supporters for, that their liberal social views excuse all their other terrible decisions. Ok good, he said those things, but he's still a major fucktard on climate, he wants to continue NSA data collecting, no justice for political prisoners, etc.
As far as Trump flip-flopping right now goes, not exactly thrilled with that. It seems like he's actually going back on his populist ideas - he's putting establishment insiders in his cabinet, including ones that go against the ideas he preached. Strengthen social security, but hand those powers over to people who want to do away with social security. What a fucking con man, and what a shame millions are getting duped into believing he's about to "derail the establishment." They don't know what that means.

I don't really understand why people are acting like the KKK is marching through the streets and rednecks are firing their guns in public? I've heard there were a few instances of harassment from both the winning and losing side, as is to be expected after elections where people are completely divided and emotions run high. Trump never introduced some policy about restricting minority rights or attacking women, for the most part it sounds like he's going to continue the current status quo (on socio-politics) and ban abortions, something that will inevitably reverse under a future Democrat. I understand people dislike that, but it also doesn't seem the worst case scenario, and I don't get why these protestors don't target specific policies (like his believe that there isn't a racial problem with police), but instead apply vague labels to him. It just reinforces the idea that the left argues "but -phobia" to everything, rather than carve out an agenda to pressure and convince Trump into.
If anything I think this election depressingly signals people aren't waking up at all, and just view politics inside their bubble of personal affairs. I don't hear anyone talking about the Republicans trying to cut environmental regulations, or a large outcry after Chelsea Manning directly pleaded Obama for release (probably in the face of a Trump presidency). Where's the mass protest over NSA spying, or the continuation of questionable drone strikes? No, people aren't really informed about these things, and many of these described problems already exist and grow under Obama's administration, a president this crowd loves because he talks a good game of liberal pandering.

It is their fault, and I hope they admit their responsibility. The Democratic party is falling out of touch with its base, but I'm not sure it's willing to make necessary changes. If Bernie Sanders is not their vision of the party's future, and they don't
want to get out of bed with Wall Street and corruption, than all they can do is repackage the same product and hope it lands next election. On the brighter side, we have Ellison running for DNC chairman right now, an actual progressive who believes in reforming the party.

Yep, and it's very easy to abuse that thinking too - they don't feel they're ever wrong or biased if the topic is about themselves. It's hard for a lot of people to be a moderate when it affects them.
