Official Mario

There's already a topic for Super Mario, I'll merge.

Merged. Please use the search before creating a thread in future.

I have a ton of Mario games. I'd say Sunshine is the best from all.

The new Mario game looks sucky.
New Super Mario Bros 2 looks very disastrous, I'm glad I didn't buy it.
It's fair. The concept of coin collecting doesn't add a whole lot to the gameplay. It's basically a extension of the Wii game for the 3DS. The Wii U game looks more promising.

I did own Super Mario Galaxy and I've completed NSMB DS, dabbled with SM64 DS and do enjoy Mario Kart.
But I haven't really touched the series as of late, perhaps it is because I yearn for the next big 3D title in the vein of 64, Sunshine and Galaxy.

I've been playing Mario games lately since I'm having an year of hiatus. I'm trying to complete SMG2 at the moment, after I think I'll stop for a while.

YESSSS! I KNEW I WOULD FIND A POST LIKE THIS SOMEWHERE! *Does a little happy Dance* Well, heck yes. I got quite a few Mario games on hand. I'm like a minor collector of Mario games but dang is it my favorite series or what? I've had it since my whole childhood. Here's a list of the Mario games I've "played". ("*" Signifies I have it.)

*Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
*Paper Mario
*Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
*Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga
*Mario Kart Double-Dash
*Mario Kart Wii
*Super Mario Bros. II
*Super Mario Bros. III
Mario Party
*Mario Party 2
*Mario Party 3
*Mario Party 4
Mario Party 5
*Mario Party 6
*Mario Party 7
*Mario Party 8
*Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
*Mario Super Sluggers
*Mario Strikers Charged
*Mario Sports Mix
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
*Super Mario 64 DS
*Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
Luigi's Mansion
*Mario Power Tennis
*New Super Mario Bros Wii
*Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics
Doctor Mario
Mario 3D Land
Super Mario Land
Super Mario World
Super Mario Bros. U
*Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island

Of course, I may be missing a few but these are the ones on the top of my head right now. If Super Smash Bros. count, put the original and brawl on the list as owned and melee as played. The only Mario games I haven't played yet that I HAVE BEEN eagerly dying to play are Super Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and Super Mario Sunshine. I also wanna try out Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon but it's a game in progress still so it's recent. I plan on getting Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Paper Mario for my birthday. I didn't originally plan to get Super Paper Mario in the first place ever since I found out it wasn't as RPG like the previous two. But now since I've done research and seen Chugga's Let's Play on it, I'm dying to get it. I've tried Super Mario Galaxy 2 at Target and rented Super Mario Galaxy. I ended up loving the first one so I plan on getting number two later on. If I had a Wii U like many other people, I would have HAD more Mario games than I do now but I have tried it. And believe me, it's pretty promising. And I fully agree with other people with New Super Mario Bros. 2. It's was an unfortunate road to a steep downhill. Luckily, they emerged from that plummet after the came with New Super Mario Bros. U. It's unbelievably amazing.

Overall, I've been a Mario/Nintendo player all my life and will remain one. Mario for me is #1. OKAY. I'm done.

Gonna bump this topic and announce that my brother will record today in TTYD how he will own the Pit of 100 Trials. You might think I am joking since he is just a little kid, but once the video is uploaded you'll see his skills in Mario :hehe:
He also beat Culex in Super Mario RPG from the first try.

Cool. :)

Checked out Mario Party: Island Tour and it's disappointing. I'm quite a fan of the Party series, even if since the 4th installment nothing too exciting has come out of it. Still though, while 8 has really cringe worthy minigames and felt like a rehash, it at least looked like they tried. The music was decent, the boards had some originality and things looked pretty nice. But since 9 I feel like it's seriously gone downhill and now Party is nothing more than quick cash cowing. I mean they tried to make 9 something new and I like that, but overall the new system is just a pure mess. Too much based on luck, even the long boards barely last 45 minutes, lack of minigames. Ehh.

Dang. He beat Culex? FIRST TRY?! THAT deserves a round of applause! *claps til my hands break off*

Well, tell him I said good luck and don't die on the 96th floor!

lol, he actually died when on 98th floor. He is trying in few days again. He was sure he was gonna make it but he has a weak side. When he plays something for too long, he loses skills. Next time, he is gonna try to make breaks so he does not feel too tired. As for Culex, here is video to prove it:

Excuse his quality, he was holding phone with one hand and played with other one.

From what I remember reading, no, but he is a reference to something from that game, I believe.

I've had a strong urge to replay the Galaxy games lately, largely thanks to all of the love Nintendo has been giving Rosalina lately. I actually remembered that I have her to thank for getting me into the Mario franchise when I did. Rosalina was half the reason I bought Super Mario Galaxy on the first week of release, as she looked like such an interesting character to me.

That being said, I know I've said that I find the first Galaxy overrated, but I think I should rephrase it - the gameplay and level design is overrated, but I'm starting to think the atmosphere and strong story telling don't get the love they deserve.

If I look at both Galaxy games as one package, though, it's something extra special. One half a genuinely touching and atmospheric game, another half being game mechanics and level design perfection.

Ah, you are right. Here is a video with proof:

OOOOOOOH, definite bump!!!

Ooh Mario has ALWAYS ALWAYS been a big part of my life aside from Rayman and other video game characters I like, and I always look forward to the next big mario thing! I own LOTS of Mario games, but my favorites are the 3D titles (64, Sunshine, Galaxy...G2..), Mario Kart, and Mario Party (before 9 that game was a nice attempt at changing the formula but still kinda trashy)

Lately my curiousity has been on both Super Mario Odyssey (which I heard is AWESOME from a friend) and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, which was in my opinion a complete wild card, as I didn't think this game would be a hit since in mu opinion they were just disasters to be added to a Rayman game. IFrom watching gameplay, I was actually quite surprised that it looked pretty good and I look forward to getting both sometime!

My only so far disappointment has been in Paper Mario since I feel like the games lately are in an identity crisis between RPG and action-adventure paper-like game. Just choose one genre and get rid of the other, don't torture me by trying to put both together in this crappy particular way! :pascontent:

I've played these already. I considered myself a Mario Fan since I was young.

Mario kart DS
Mario Kart 7
Super Mario 64
New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS
Mario Party for the DS as well.
Mario And Luigi: Bower's Inside Story
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games
Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics
Super Mario 64 DS
Super Smash Bros for the N64.
Super Smash Bros for the 3DS.

I own no Mario games physically, though I am planning on playing SM64 on Project64.

Mario Party for DS was very addicting especially when you did 2 player in Party Mode :P
