Our memes

That's a brilliant piece! Although if you used it on someone who didn't know about Rayman 2, they might not pick up on the irony! :oops2:

Not sure where the best place for it is on the forum, this topic is really more for discussing the memes that have organically arisen on RaymanPC… Maybe the "funny pics" thread instead?

Well, I'm not even sure I picked up on the irony, I just thought the idea of a Henchman insulting other people's artwork would be funny (and it was partially inspired by conversations about AI from this forum).

That thread crossed my mind, but I was really unsure about other people considering it "funny", so I choose this topic.

Well I meant the way that the Robo-Pirates go around sucking the soul out of planets, so it makes sense that they would be disparaging of any non-AI art!

What if (bare with me) since the robo pirates are robots, they then therefore (idk if that was grammatically correct) have AI, which means they could be the one making all this art

Perhaps I'm reading into this too deeply, but they don't strike me at the type...their whole shtick of invading planets and enslaving the populace feels more inclined towards them taking things than creating. It's telling that Razor had to buy a death machine instead of making his own, you'd think them being advanced AIs, they could've designed one for themselves...couple that in with the dire construction standards of their forts (they use fucking plasters), and the fact that the Prison Ship is a death trap...and yeah they don't strike me as the...creatively competent types.

Though that now has me wondering about the origins of the Robo-Dinosaur...did the Pirates make that? Or was that another purchase?

But AI art literally copies actual art, so it does make sense to me.

And there’s nothing creative about making AI art :?. All you have to do is write something up and that’s quite literally it, all you have to do is wait. And for people who code AI generating programs, i don’t think they’re creative either. They probably just code them to copy art, just like i told above.

Maybe some people (me ) don’t have the skill or the tools to make art, but they are still really creative, so they put their ideas into AI and they come to life. I hate this obnoxious “AI bad human good” stereotype that everybody seems to be giving off

I never really seen people use AI to actually make something creative, it’s either anime girls or something absurd. Also the main problem with AI is that they train on artists who did not give the permission to do so, so yeah i don’t think very highly of it. Like for example, i know this artist called Marikyuun (?) and somebody literally made AI art trained on her artworks without her giving permission, just imagine how awful that feels. I actually was quite interested in AI art back then, but now i realize it’s all just plagiarizing stuff.

I'm not quite sure you're getting the point I was making overall. My point was that the Pirates don't seem to be very good at creating, a lot of their endeavours come from taking (from local populations), enslaving (having local populations do their dirty work), or buying (as is the case with the Grolgoth). When they've been made to do their own work, their works are usually fairly sloppy, looking at the slapdash construction of their forts or the Prison Ship. They take from those who are capable and make it their own where possible...if anything I'd argue the point I'm making would be in favour of your viewpoint, not against.

Is any of this actually hurting anyone? If it’s not making money, then no. So what if people want to generate a picture of an anime woman? Also, I’d be proud if AI took my artwork that neither of us would’ve made money off. You have to be really salty to complain about AI “stealing” your work

Here’s a read for you:
(One final point, all the points you made have nothing to do with AI being not creative)

Oh... ok! thanks!

I just thought this convo was getting really off topic, but then i realized that isn't my job. So uh, carry on i guess?

I don't think so, Im just natural about AI.

I understand both sides.

I understand that artists and others don't like their art put on the internet, and that it's wrong to feed others hard work into a machine to recalculate their art.

However, AI is a great tool for science and such! Plus, if the people who are getting their work into the machine consent, then it could also be a great tool for artists to come up with ideas.

I am not pro or anti AI, i just think it could do good or bad.

But asides that, what does AI have to do with this topic?

Yeah, i see your point, i just kinda misunderstood it..

Well, it still kinda bugs me, even if it doesn’t make money. And as an artist, i would rather not see people copying my work at all. Anyways, i don’t really feel like arguing much and we already strayed away from the original topic. I’ll just accept the fact that people have different beliefs and leave at that, ok?

Sure, how about I admit that AI apart stealing is wrong, and you that AI artists can be creative, ok?
