Yeah, the pencils acquire a random sprite every time they're rendered. It's just one of those cartoony things.
It was messing with my head

I'm glad I wasn't just crazy though :P

Did anyone see that Rayman 1 was featured on Dara O'Briain's Go 8-Bit the other day and it was in the classics segment?

Check out these mad skills hahaha
So epic like

Edit: Try do that for the lols and see can you do it first try :P

I finally had the chance to watch earlier this evening, the description of Rayman was pretty good and a bit humorous. I think it was definitely hilarious to watch them play Rayman (PS1 version i bet). Poor poor Kat.

Haha.

How did you do that Steo? Just stand on the edge of the nenuphar and hold the punch button for a while?

Haha I did it by mistake then realised it was funny. Then repeated the action on record. It's actually harder to miss him than hit him

I find it even funnier that as soon as his fist comes back he happens to start looking as if to say "where did that go"

Interesting read :P

I can't help but wonder what the SNES version would have been like. Looks like I'll never really know unfortunately :tssk:

Edit: I think I have like 5 levels left to get the cages in. I must finish it.

Wait, so the sliding really was added for the PS version?? Then I guess Allegro Presto must've been "backported" to the Jaguar version. I wonder why they bothered…
And so they still consider the music and picture worlds to represent computer chips? I've probably read that before, but it's pretty cool to think about it that way. And then the "electric" part was replaced by the candy world, obviously alluding to Hansel & Gretel. Ah well, I suppose they were able to realize it in Origins anyway with the Moody Clouds, at least to some extent…

I’m not sure if that article has been posted here before, but I must say that it was definitely an interesting read for me. Hee hee all this talk about Rayman 1 is inspiring me to pick it up and play again after a long time. Consider the challenge accepted! I’ll just see how much I remember from the first time I played.

Why is there no 6th cage on Mr. Skops' Stalactites? I found every other cage in the game by myself up to this point. Is it just a well hidden cage?

EDIT: Boo-yah! 100%

I definitely remember that last level and remember trying to get all the electoons so whether I used a password to get there or not as a kid I don't remember. I done it now anyway I saved the world :P

Now I need to do it again at NTSC speed without the 99 lives code

My strategy when tackling this game is practically walking right through the first few levels, ignoring everything until I have the powers needed to collect everything, that way I don’t put too much effort playing both times through the levels.

Anyone who knows where to find an untouched BIN/CUE rip of Rayman 1 for PC/MS-DOS? Preferably European.

I wish I had a copy of it, I would've sent you it. I'll let you know if I do obtain it.

Anyone ever notice how different the PAL and NTSC voices actually are on PS1? I have the NTSC version here on my PS2 HDD, even though I own the PAL disc because NTSC's faster. Anyway I was typing on RPC and left the intro running, the voiced intro sounds completely different to the PAL one :?

Really? What does the PAL one sound like? I live in an NTSC region, so I wouldn't know.

26 seconds in:

Completely different voice in the NTSC version.

NOTE: Make sure it’s the original Ubisoft disc, not any of those re-releases and such.

Not only on PS1 – the intros are different between regions on all versions.

(dammit Steo I was about to post that exact same vid)

Haha. Yeah that's another thing I never knew since I only ever really played the PAL version and when I did use an emulator I was just skipping the intro also having not heard it in years.

As soon as I heard "Hi folks" there on the NTSC one I was like what
