Rayman 1 sounds great. I'm going to see if I can find the GBA versinon on the internet, then convince my mom to get it for me ^^
Just download a ROM of it.
On this note, actually.. don't play it. It is
terrible in comparison to my PC version.
I've been playing it as part as Rayman 10th Anniversary Collection for the GBA recently just because I miss having a computer it would work on. (DOSBox and Pok2's patch don't seem to work for me either. No idea what's going on.) So anyway...
It's crap.
It's dumbed down severely.
They went wild placing extra checkpoints EVERYWHERE to make the game "easier." They also took out some enemies. They even placed some of the cages in different locations, and tied into this, they went on an extra lives spree, placing trophies in extra places. The crawling on my DS' pad is even crap, and it's still crap, even when I moved onto a GBA-SP, and it's not even specifically a problem with the d-pad. Rayman 3 uses the exact same control scheme and works just fine. Rayman 3 on the GBA is
GREAT.
The music occasionally has notes that cut out when other sound effects play. Rayman 3 on the GBA doesn't even have this problem either. Clearly, in terms of some of the portions of code, they didn't know what they were doing.
The platforms are sometimes glitched up. I've had at least 5 instances where I got teleported to the top of a platform when I got hit, enabling me to skip portions of levels.
Yet, with all these problems, it's dumbed down to the point of being
too easy to be a lot of fun.
I would almost challenge anyone who would say that this game was hard to playing the PSOne or PC versions. Speaking of which, I'm going to go shopping or rom-hunting and find the PSOne version.
