Rayman 3

Wasn't there a similar cheat for R1? And why doesn't RayWiki have an article on cheats? Seems like basic info to me.

Clearleaf Forest cleared. God this is boring... because I have already played through R3 twice before in the last week...

...but the whole point of RaySaves is that people will not have to suffer this boredom in the future. :)

Naturally, the prerequisite for Candy Chateau is to have fully completed the other levels, there's no password that would allow for Candy Chateau to be accessible with all other levels having not been completed, the only way to get to Candy Chateau would be through legitimate means, be that by supplying a password, or save, but either way, all other levels will be completed.

Hmm... the savegame looks like it might be encrypted... that's bad.

Does anyone have a Rayman 1 PC savegame with Candy Chateau unlocked? Could said person please upload it?

I have installed it.Now I will go and play(with cheats :bad: )
Great! Using cheats is a good idea, otherwise it would be a terribly long and difficult process :)

Hmm, Rayman 1 can be really difficult to get working...
:tssk:
ehem. no not realy. simple as hell!
Once you know how to set up DOSBox, I'm sure repeating that process is not too hard. But when you don't know how to do that, it's hard. I tried it once and failed, then I got the GOG.com version that has DOSBox already set up and ready to play. :D

EDIT: I didn't see that link when I posted that... that patch sure looks useful! I'll try it once I try my hand at R1 again.

OK, I finished The Bog of Murk and The Land of the Livid Dead... dang, now The Desert of the Knaaren is next... I hate that place :o

GoG is not that advanced as I set up my Patch. Why you don't try it out? I'm sure you will not regret it

EDIT: I noticed your EDIT. Anyway you

!!Even Haruka is using it!! :proud:

However there are also levels here that have one-time areas (such as flying the pirate ship in the mines).
I never understood why this happens. There's no valid reason for why Rayman would be able to revisit the Iron Mountains and have everything reset to its original state (all traps reactivated, all Pirates revived, all Menhirs dug up from under the ground and all wooden doors replaced and repatched with PirateCorp Safety Patches™), save for the encounter with Uglette. It makes not a whole lot of sense.

In Revolution, this is kind-of addressed, though it still doesn't make complete sense, in some areas, more Pirates will appear than originally when returning, other areas may have zombified Pirates in the place of living Pirates when revisiting, however, the state of the level is reset.

Heh, nice :)
I thought she was using an emulator. Well, she probably did, until you released the patch.

Hmm... I think the designers wanted to make the level revisits canon.

it is conceivable the pirates have rebuilt their strongholds and repaired their dead comrades. I admit, it's very unlikely that everything would be in exactly the same state as before, but at least it doesn't interfere with the lore.
Any story-related parts - basically every time you meet an important character, such as Ly (freeing her from that machine), Ssssam (freeing him from the cage), Axel (boss fight), Clark (healing him), Globox (freeing him), Carmen (freeing her), Foutch (boss fight), Uglette (saving her children), etc... that part will not reset because that wouldn't make sense, story-wise. When you free them, they've escaped - they're not recaptured according to the story. The same applies to killing them, healing them, etc.
But revived pirates are not important in the lore, so they can be revived.

So now when Rayman revisits a level, that can be fit into the story without contradictions. In Rayman 3, revisiting a level is definitely not canon because everything is reset - like travelling back in time. They didn't want to do that in R2 - they wanted to keep it canon. So they stripped out any parts that contradicted with the story and put everything else - the parts that are unimportant to the story - back in.

Hm, I didn't know that. Even more evidence they wanted the revisits to be as much canon as possible. It sounds fun - better than replaying the exact same level.

Robotic Teensie,I have a question:
Did you ever tried to hack Rayman 1 with Cheat Engine?
Actually someone named "Jaxxckle" did and found amazing things like playing with Bad Rayman.
Check out his videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/Jaxxckle
I have not yet had the time to hack Rayman 1, but I sure intend to do that at some point in the future.

I think Cheat Engine will not work unless you run Rayman directly and not using DOSBox or like.
Hmm, I'm not sure... well if DOSBox doesn't work I can still use your patch :)

I just finished The Desert of the Knaaren. The next two worlds will be a lot shorter - only 3 parts each :)

My patche workes with a modified DOSBox. If DOSBox doesn't work then mine too.

Hmm, then it all depends on whether Cheat Engine can work with R1 in DOSBox or not. But I think it will work. Jaxxckle used Cheat Engine to hack R1 too. And Cheat Engine is a Windows program, so he must have used some emulator - R1 only works in DOS.

EDIT: Finished The Longest Shortcut.

Doesn't matter, robo. I believe Jaxxckle used a PC-emulator like VirtualPC or VMWare with Windows 9X/ME installed. In the emulator he might have Cheat Engine installed and use it from there.

*groan* I hope I won't have to do that, that will take a while to sort out...

An old version of Cheat Engine may be needed if the latest version doesn't work on such an old OS...

Obviously, but it makes some revisits illogical nonetheless; how would Rayman go back to the undestroyed Prison Ship over and over again after fighting Razorbeard? Why would you want to make a game 'as logical as possible' instead of either completely logical or completely replayable (like R3 is)?(*)

That makes more sense, even gameplay-wise, because the level becomes (potentially) harder the next time around, making it more fun to revisit.

That R1 hack looks nice. I love the smiling Bad Rayman at the end of a level.

(*) = I mean, my criticism is a bit hypocritical considering I'm employing the same strategy in my own Rayman game, but that's beside the point. :P
