Rayman Timeline

The way I see it, is that Rayman's creation was kept a secret, only the Bubble Dreamer/Polokus and a few others were aware of his existence, perhaps an accident occurred, maybe even against the battle with Jano, the end result being that Rayman ended up washed on the Sea of Lums, and being discovered by the inhabitants of the Glade, and, to prove his good intention, he beat Mr. Dark, as in the manual.

Oh, wait! I forgot that part! The battle with Mr. Dark (and consequently all surroundings in Rayman 1) were supposed to take place in the Glade? This quite meddles up my perception of Rayman's world.

But ah, I will keep my image of how it should be for my own purposes.

I think it's been discussed that the events of Rayman 1 takes place in one of the isles in the Archipelago.

Of course. The series has never suggested that the games' settings are distinct. The "valley" and "archipelago" exist solely as scraps of extraneous lore cobbled together by fans in a misguided attempt to crowbar the series into making sense. They were thoughtless offhand mentions, and will never be revisited (or visited) as distinct locations in any way. On the other hand, the "Glade of Dreams" concept introduced by Rayman 2 has stuck firmly, retroactively absorbing the world of the original game as well as extending forwards to all subsequent ones. The Glade of Dreams is all there is.

Well, in the "Rayman Wiki" (in the Rayman Origins section) says: Despite its title, it is not a prequel, but a SEQUEL to the first three Rayman games. What do you think of that guys?

Well it is confirmed it is sequel and not prequel. Prequel idea was scrapped.

I think "yea exactly"

Anyone who plays Origins with passing knowledge of the previous games will see that it's not a prequel.

Ok ok im sorry, i know rayman origins its not a prequel but whats with the magician, because in rayman 1 he was a rayperson but in origins its a teensie, whats wIith that, its just a new design? also if the Magician becomes evil in origins its weird to see the intro of the first rayman game now xD

Right. Okay then.

I won't even bother to answer that, I'm afraid.

It's just a redesign. There's no logical or sound reason as to why he's a teensie now, other than probably to fit in with the style of the newer games.
