You don't get what I meant, it makes it a lot less visible, imagine some member creates some youtube channel or website and puts the link in his profile, it is a lot less visible than when it was displayed on every post.

Well as a matter of fact, it will still look bad with the extension. It's more like requiring an extension to fit your taste, as smilies just can't look good on non-integer dppx devices. I just don't happen to know a single forum that will look good at 125%.

I never "accepted" to use 125% zoom, as I said it is the default for my DPI settings, which were also 125% when I bought this laptop - I didn't change anything. 100% is near unreadable on my screen. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem as it's now a very common practice (in Belgium, at least) to sell laptops with 15in screens and a high resolution, with DPI scaling active by default to compensate. I think you are partly confused because I am talking about zoom levels, but this is really just a DPI issue, and it's exactly the same issue as those mobile devices with non-integer DPIs, so the market share isn't as tiny as you assume.

Granted, they're both awful when zoomed in like that, but the blur almost isn't noticeable on my DPI, while the harsh, duplicated outlines and distorted proportions of the pixelated ones are.

Yeah, I've tried it and found it really ugly, but not worse than using aliasing on pixel art.

But yeah, again sorry that I appear to have pissed you off with this, it's really the last thing I want to do, especially over something like this. I'll drop the issue if you still feel that the blurry smilies don't look better than the pixelated ones for non-integer DPIs.

I, personally, don't have a preference. But it doesn't matter anyway, let's just have a small poll, see what people prefer, and the most popular option will be retained. All that matters is that this website is as enjoyable as possible for its users.

Buffer does have a free plan, and there’s also Twitter’s web client and TweetDeck (which I use) if you don’t mind posting manually.

The idea is for publishing to be automated from the RSS feed, and I don't believe that it is included in Buffer's free plan. No point in setting up any other service if I have to do it manually.

From what I understand browser zoom is automatically enabled on mobiles now so the site is more mobile friendly, where it used to be a fixed size and looked more like the desktop version. Sometimes I prefer the desktop size but it's not possible to change the page size on mobile as far as I know.

It has nothing to do with browser zoom, only with the width of your screen. Therefore, you can easily imagine that it's not an easy change. I assume that you'd like to switch to the desktop view in situations where some information has been removed to make space for the rest, such as last posters on the forum index. But clicking a mobile view button won't be any faster than clicking the last post link and both will give you the same information (even more for the latter).

In any case, as I said the way phpBB implemented responsiveness would require major changes to the software to have such a button and there's much more important for us to work on at the moment than rewriting phpBB (though, I'll grant you, it could use a great deal of refactoring ).

Actually the gender icons don't look as good on desktop. I suppose it depends on a lot of factors though, I'm sure Chrome+Win users are laughing at me.

It's not really a problem, I was just wondering if it was possible since it was hard to navigate at first but I've gotten used to it now

If you ended up losing Tings, it's because you applied for the beta testing, were chosen, and did not participate in it. As you certainly know, many members wanted to be part of it and most were denied this opportunity. Applying without participating not only prevented some members from enjoying it, it also reduced the number of testers and resulted in more bugs making it to the final version. Please be more considerate and responsible next time.

Thank you - may the thousands upon thousands of vector icons I made across the forum and the Wiki be enjoyed by all, both homo and straight.

Also, I still vouch for a scaling mode option in the UCP. Rather than forcing bilinearity upon everyone (both homo and straight), this will allow those of us who use zooming (the straights) to be satisfied alongside everyone else. One size never fits all!
