Rayman 3 scores

OK so have any of you ever had this weird glitch happen on PC where you finish a level but restart and end up getting to keep the points?

I still haven't got the hang of the combos properly but I'm practicing and in LOTLD part 2 I only got about 7000 for the level (forgetting about the secret room)

I remember starting part 2 with 24000 points and when I got to the end it came up saying my score was 52% so I thought nah that's terrible I have to practice that part. I alt+tabbed out and force closed the game on the taskbar as this usually just makes the level restart the part you were currently on without the need to play part 1 again and surprisingly it came back on with my points at 31000 at the start of LOTLD part 2.

I know my score is still Terrible even with the extra 7000 but even if it was a good score I wouldn't include it and cheat. I may even roll back to the previous save file I had.

Anyway my point is has anyone ever encountered this glitch before?
 
Yes. It was discovered in 2009 and a few people have been caught using it at the end of the Fairy Council to get well in excess of 900k points.

At least others have heard of it. I'm not nearly good enough at it to get anywhere near 800000 at the minute anyway but I wouldn't use a non legit score even if it's still bad. Cheaters never win and winners never cheat ;)

Doing the little glitches like turtle stacking is different because everyone's doing them and it's worth the same amount of points to everyone.

Also I had a look at the xbox360 leaderboards. 2 billion with a 32 bit integer max value. Yeah them top 27 scores look real legit. I feel sad for the people that actually bothered to hack the game to get in the leaderboards. Even if their scores did look legit they're always gonna know themselves that they're not. Can't stand people that are sad enough to say they achieved something that they clearly didn't. Wonder what they get out of it.
 
That's exactly how I feel about the Legends Invasion leaderboards (at least on PC). So to play this game, I need Uplay DRM, so that I can see the leaderboards and feel real inferior to the people who completed a Toad Story level in -20 seconds? :roll:
Either clean up the leaderboards or get rid of your stupid DRM, Ubi!

Damn that's stupid. You'd think they'd monitor the leaderboards and being the ones who made the game know what scores are impossible to achieve. I also own Legends on PC well I actually have it on all platforms so I'm gonna check them out. Now that you mention it though I've managed to get a few diamond cups even though it's near impossible sometimes, but I struggled one day to make 1.7km on Murfy's Dungeon as far as you can to get a diamond cup and the leader had 30km+?

Ruins it for everyone else when you can say this to the majority of the leaderboards

I believe the 30 km scores one sees nowadays are actually legit though, since people who've been playing for years are actually that good. Anything over that is a hack though, since the levels themselves glitch out around the 30 km mark and kill you for no reason (someone posted a video here before).

Yeah there are some very hard to get diamond cups. Though that still doesn't explain 2 billion in Rayman 3 :)
 
Finally found some motivation to play R3 again. Still haven't made any progress in the little time I've played, but I've given DOTK3 a few more shots. Hopefully I'll be able to succeed in getting the Green Gem in Combo for 6.000 soon ;)

I'd also like to have something clarified, that being where we currently stand on uploading IPG-Scores to the HoF. I browsed through this topic to make sure I remembered it correctly; apparently we compromised on not uploading IPG-Scores to the HoF, but that compromise was "tied" to MandM revealing his findings in SBTC no later than April 1st, 2016 (which is somewhat overdue by now).

Either way is fine for me, but if I was allowed to enter my Score, I feel like it'd be a waste to never upload it to the HoF. Is there some general consent on this?

I don't quite remember whether we've found a consensus about it; but if the post from MandM you've quoted was the latest proposal, then obviously not.
In this case I think you might just go ahead and upload your score. If someone's not ok with it, then you can always replace it with your current 888k score, if necessary.
As for myself I don't mind if IPG-scores were allowed in the HoF, especially since my next improvement will be due to an IPG... :winkgrin:

By the way, once I finish HH, I'd like to make a list or optimally a video including all scoring-relevant glitches, so that the info will be at one place and not scattered over ~360 pages. Apart from it being a fun project, I think it might be helpful for quite a few players, especially since it's hard to know/remember all the glitches and needed inputs.
I have already a rough draft, but before I continue working on it, I want to ask whether there is already a similar list, besides this one?
If not, then I'll probably post the draft at some point, so you guys can look over it if you want and check it for errors/completeness. :)
 
So I decided to take a look at all the scores on the current Hall of Fame, and I noticed two scores that were unusual. One scorer was a mod, so that one didn't bother me so much. It was whoever made a score of 10. It probably was a hack, but I still have to wonder, why would anyone hack their score to get a 10??? Was it a failure hack or something or a hack to make their score lower? The logic still confuses me...

No, I was actually talking about the two lowest scores on the bottom of the HOF.
 
I see. Sorry if I overreacted.

Well the 1337 thing I think has a backstory to it. The 10 score could have been some joke. That user signed up back in 2015 and has never posted on the forum and hasn't been online since the day after he/she signed up. Nothing to really worry about.
 
Nobody likes to be accused of cheating so that's an understandable reaction :mefiant:

Oh yes get a laugh out of me now since my post made it look like I had actually accused mods of cheating. If I recall the same thing happened to me a week or two ago in another thread.. 8) :lol:

In retrospect, I probably should have said used to be a mod instead of was a mod, so I'm sorry if I had confused ^^. And every other mod who looked at this and thought I was accusing them :oops2:
 
Well if I achieved something great like that (Ray's R3 score) then I also wouldn't be very pleased if I thought someone was accusing me of cheating. In fact when I can do something and someone else says they don't believe I can, that really grinds my gears. Those are the type of people I can't stand.
 
I know how that feels, I don't like when people tell me I can't do it. It was just really bad word placement. :( I don't doubt anyone's ability on that scoreboard. The last two just had me curious that's all. :mrgreen:

I'll try eventually. For now I have 400,000 and I'm trying to work on the game project :P
 
Oh yeah, you didn't even mention that it was at the bottom of the list. I didn't see anything wrong with what you said either until Ray pointed it out. See, this is what we get for fluidly shifting conversations between topics and assuming everyone else knows what's going on. :mrgreen:
