Wasn't something like this done with Rayman Designer hacking?

I mean in Rayman 1 itself, to see if the same code was already there.

Oogh, if that were to happen in the original, it could render the game even harder than it already was. I'm pretty sure there are some passages in the game where it's narrow and you have to crawl, with antitoons coming through. But that still would be an interesting challenge. :bad:

Should I digitize the Rayman 1 100% playthrough tape that I’ve recorded?

The recording is pretty good, even though I struggled in some places.

Why not? I once recorded a playthrough of some game (not Rayman) and uploaded it to Youtube more than a decade later. Even though it hardly had any value at that point, it felt good. :)

I think you should, yes. The worst that can happen is that nobody watches it: no big deal. 👍

You can now play the PS1 version of Rayman 1 (and Rayman 2) in full-speed on the 3DS using RetroArch (needs a CFW'ed 3DS):

You can also play the DSiware version on the 3DS but it's way more compressed than the PS1 version and it changed some of the difficulty.

Anyone ever notice that you can get a life statue by falling down behind the exit sign in the level where Betilla gives you the helicopter power?

I never seen it on PS1. I have fallen down the middle a few times, but I never thought of trying that.

Isn't the PC the one with 4 1ups on Allegro Presto too? :hap:

Yes it is! Damn, just realized I forgot to go back for those when I got the helicopter power…

EDIT: Just did it. Now on 83 lives, having already beaten Mister Dark. :P

Simply beating Allegro Presto without dying gives you 2-3 lives just from the tings collected. I used to replay this level every time I needed a few lives during my playthrough.

I think I only had 48 when I last played on PS1. Still though, it makes you wonder why continues are even necessary when you're used to the game. :P

Exactly! Of course, that does mean I never checked if my soundtrack patch holds up when you get a game over. I'm sure it does…

You can play the PC version with the PS1 soundtrack ? restore the missing sounds when completing levels etc.

Well, Rayman Plus does that, Plum was getting them to be implemented within DOSBOX, which also makes it work with Wine. I haven't actually gotten around to trying it out yet actually.
