Yeah, that's like the only instance of untranslatable puns in Rayman 2 (whereas Rayman 3 has loads of them!). I spent hours agonizing over what to call them in Irish, and I can't remember what my final decision was

So, the main takeaway is, if we're to stick to the two unofficial translations, some of the names are going to have problems, ranging from minor inconsistencies to obvious, nonsensical mistranslations. Were the translations official, we'd be stuck with them, but they're not, so maybe we have the opportunity to standardize all this and fix obvious mistakes, all while drawing as much as we can from what they have established over the years?

That, or we stick to the unofficial translations as originally intended, and while some names won't be perfect, only two will be really bad: the Crow's Nest and the Canopy. But man, will they be bad.

I support this. I think that I will create pages with your suggested names and mention the alternate names for every level (where they exist), referencing the above post with the table.

It will probably be pushed off to next week or later; I have a couple of pressing deadlines, including a conference paper I am trying to submit.

I think all these options are fine. I'll ponder a bit some more. Maybe consult my mother, the linguist.

Thanks! I just edited https://raymanpc.com/wiki/ru/Rayman_2 to change the level names, in the list as well as everywhere in the text where I found (probably missed some) to the agreed upon versions from above. This creates red-link placeholders from which I will create the pages.

After deliberation and consultation, the decision is to use "Корабль-Тюрьма" as the official name. However, when conjugated in the text, I decided, at this point, to allow it to be called "Тюремный Корабль". The reason is that "Корабль-Тюрьма" sounds much better, but does not conjugate as nicely. That's how I feel at the moment.

As for "Зал Дверей" - I left it at that at this point, since it does sound a little better to me than "Холл Дверей", and since we already have the page and all the references to it.

I wonder if I can get the relevant pirated ISO somewhere. Although, that would greatly expand the scope of the translation project, so it is not likely to happen soon...

I want to see Russian translations for Rayman 3 HD, but I know that is so hard to translate this game, especially cutscenes.
