In your defense, the game doesn't make it obvious at any point how the combo system works exactly. But hey, if you've never felt the need to explore it and -still- enjoyed the game, it just goes to show that you love playing the game just for the sake of playing the game, which tells volumes about how good it is
Yeah I don't blame anyone for not knowing the mechanics work this way, as it's not explained well at all in game. There's no indication that your current combo is 2x, 3x, 4x, and so on. It would have been nice if they simply just added a multiplier to make it very clear to people, or at least explained how the scoring works in the manual. It's nice though, how people took time out of their own day to describe how it works, as seen on
RayWiki also.
I also think it's amazing how many people can just play Rayman 3 for the sake of it like this, and many don't even have any interest in scoring while thoroughly enjoying the game nonetheless. I love this about the game, that it's purely optional; it makes it have so much replay ability for people who do want to score, while of course people can pay no heed to it if they don't want to. It's still nice though to discover all the secrets, and maybe score 43001 or more points by the last part of TOTL.
