Re: Thorn vines
I'm only just now seeing this, so I'll give my opinion as well. Personally, I wouldn't mind merging the articles; like boomboleros said, the different spiky vines seem similar enough to warrant it.

As for the name, while I've always been partial to "Darkroots," that name really only fits with the ones from Origins, which actually looked like they were in the same family as Darktoons. I'd say that giant bramble, thorn vine, or spiky root would all work as a catch-all name.
Hunchman801 wrote: Wed Sep 18, 2024 7:47 pm Last but not least, the UbiArt games also feature non-spiky vines, but I'm not sure what they're called in the files and if they're even acknowledged on the wiki as of now.
They're just called "friendly roots" in the files for Legends. :hap:

Re: Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition
It's cool to see all these references to old games and spin-offs such Rayman Arena and Brain Games with UbiArt style, but I would prefer discovering them while playing the game. Or they could have shown less standees. :?

A witch looking for scorpion venom for her potions? Makes sense to me. :)

It's nice to see characters from different games interact on these boards. I hope we have more like that. :D

Considering we also have a R1 Hunter and an UbiArt Hunter side by side, I would say it's just a reference to their design change.

We may have other standees like this, for Betilla or the Livingstones maybe. :?:

Hey, maybe Ubi created some to trigger fandom, with the Magician or some of the many Dark Rayman.
After all, they already started with Candy Château board showing Raymesis. :confus:

Re: Thorn vines
Thanks Hunch for highlighting this topic!

My opinion is still the same as 2014 and 2016 ( ). There are enough similarities between spiky plants in UbiArt games and the ones in previous games to merge articles.

As for the name, I always hated "nettle" from R3, which is incorrect and moreover from 2003, others and way better terms have been used before in English!
If we consider the "ronce" from R2 revealed by Droolie, we could use bramble or giant bramble (name of the French article), as we did for "la Fée de la Mort" translation, Death Fairy.
I also like thorn vine, which is the most used and relevant in Prima's official strategy guide.
I'm against using any term with "tentacle", which is way too "organic". What we have here are mutated plants, so bramble or vine is way more relevant.

My biggest question right now is seeing the Polokus in his R2 and UbiArt forms in the same photographer board: it's odd to see these forms together in the same picture as if they were different individuals. Maybe I'm overthinking about it and should interpret some of these boards the same way as I look to the Vita mosaics.

Re: Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition
Holy shit, those are some deep cuts! I absolutely love it. The coolest thing is that it's new art, so someone at Ubisoft actually sat down and drew Dark Rayman (Arena) and Dark Globox in the year 2026.

This kind of thing is exactly what I always thought the original game was missing.

Re: Movies you just recently watched
Saw Evil Bong with some friends. I am speechless.

Well, whenever a character pulls the Bubble Dreamer's beard, he'll usually say their name during his dialogue about them, so the question remains in play.

That reminds me, it'll be interesting to see what the Bubble Dreamer has to say about these returning skins! I imagine it won't break much new ground about the characters, but it'll still be fun to hear what he thinks about people like Rayomz and Dark/Shadow Ray. :)

Re: Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition
I think my favorite might the edutainment-themed standee. I discovered the series with the educational games, after all! :hap:

If there's any which could bother me for example is the Foutch one as it'd make way more sense to see it in the underground part of Gourmand Land (tho I don't remember if any level specifically ends inside), and because there's literally nothing linking him to the walking shell besides being in R2... Also, why does his arms looks like some generic purple sleeves, now? They're supposed to be crystalline!
This flew right over my head, but you're right! Umber would have made a lot more sense. I guess he's just less recognizable, maybe?

Re: Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition
Alright, this is genuinely awesome. I love how many references to past games, from the OG trilogy to a few spin-offs and even a couple from Legends, they've crammed into these photoboards! They even put Shayman from Adventures into the one with the Incrediballs - could that be a nod to his playable appearance in Rayman's Incrediballs Dodge? :hehe:

On another note, the trailer also revealed some of the new skins coming to the game! Along with everyone's favorite Legends skins Rayomz and Poglox, there's also some characters from the now-defunct mobile games; Teen Punk, Glombrero, and Shadow Ray Dark Rayman from Legends have been remade in the Origins style, and they're looking good! :D

Re: Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition
That's so good! :D

Actually, I think the Clark and Tarayzan one is perfect, they go very well together in terms of theming and it makes your imagination go wild about what happened to these characters since the post-Rayman 3 era, and how the R1 & 2 cast could have met and bonded behind the scenes since then! :nostalgic:

Otherwise, yeah, some other pairings are downright nonsensical... They probably struggled to fit a few in specific places because they had too many slots to cover! :P

Btw, I guess this is the closest we've ever got to having Dark Globox and the Arena version of Dark Rayman canonically acknowledged!
(EDIT: as well as a few other things like the edutainment games! :) ...and the Incrediballs of course, everyone's favourites! :hap: :hap: :hap: )

Now, as they do remember them... if only they could actually respect the old designs like Polokus for the next games... :bad:
