:::::::Thanks for adding that information, but it'd be interesting to see if the damage inflicted by flying shell shots is consistent with the resistance of the enemies in the game. ::::::::Bats, piranhas and missiles take one shot each. I'm not sure about the Chenilles though, as they move around too quickly to keep track of their individual segments. I think it's three shots per segment though, from what I remember from my Foutch run, and it's got 15 segments overall, making 45 hit points, but again I'm unsure.
