Talk:Raymesis: Difference between revisions
RayGamer99 (talk | contribs) Created page with "== Alignment confusion == For a little while now, I’ve had a debate with myself about whether or not Raymesis is a good guy or a bad guy. While a good chunk of the fanbase, at least on the fanart and fanfic side, has gone with the latter alignment, I still can’t be sure if that lines up with the in-game lore. I’ve had this same mental debate over Dr. Farayday, but on a lesser scale. In Rayman Origins, the Bubble Dreamer refers to him as “..." |

In Rayman Origins, the Bubble Dreamer refers to him as “Rayman’s evil clone”, a trait which is also carried into his reveal for Rayman: The Board Game: “Rayman’s evil clone is here to rock out!” However, it is possible that the Bubble Dreamer is simply mistaking him for Bad Rayman, who, aside from the obvious design difference, looks very similar to Raymesis. In addition, his descriptions from Rayman Legends onward never call him an evil clone, instead claiming that he just wants to tarnish Rayman’s reputation for some reason or other. As for my input on this, I never saw Raymesis as a bad guy; rather, I see him more as an anti-hero and non-villainous rival to Rayman (and the leader of his own squad, but that’s a topic for another day) — like the Shadow to Rayman’s Sonic, or the Vegeta to Rayman’s Goku. But what are you guys’ thoughts? Do you think Raymesis (and Dr. Farayday) is a bad guy, or a good guy? If the former, should we change his alignment on the wiki? I’d like to hear you guys’ input on this! -RayGamer99 | As for my input on this, I never saw Raymesis as a bad guy; rather, I see him more as an anti-hero and non-villainous rival to Rayman (and the leader of his own squad, but that’s a topic for another day) — like the Shadow to Rayman’s Sonic, or the Vegeta to Rayman’s Goku. (Really quick note before I leave: one thing I wanted to bring light to is that just because a character is playable does not make them a good guy; while the Rayman series does not give any examples of this, there are numerous video games that do. Bowser in Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story and Dr. Neo Cortex in Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time came to mind for me. Okay, bye!) -RayGamer99
: I think this question highlights the difficulty of categorizing characters as either good or bad, when there's obviously more to it at times. The fact is, Raymesis fights the villains alongside the rest of the heroes in the games he appears in, so it probably doesn't make much sense to label him as "bad" like said villains. Could "good or neutral" be a good compromise here? — 13:29, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
