Although the flower tentacle can be bypassed without defeating it, there is unused functionality for it to spawn in a platform after being defeated, perhaps indicating that it would need to be defeated before being able to continue the level. This platform would have stayed spawned in even after the player loses a [[life]], meaning the flower tentacle would only need to be defeated once when playing the level.
