History of the Fan
Once, when I was in London, my cousins showed me their PS1, I was mystified, particularly by Rayman 1, as time went by, my parents got us a PS1, and I knew the one game that I wanted. I pestered until I finally got it, and played it with extreme delight, though I never got past Allegro Presto I did end up finishing the game...at the age of 15. Later on I got Rayman 2 for my PS1, which I enjoyed alot more due to it's toned back difficulty, however, at this point, since I hadn't seen any other version of the game, I genuinely thought that the Heart being comprised of 800 lums was canon. My PS1 broke, and I lost those games eventually, though I got both back via PSN. As for Rayman 3, it was the first game I got when I bought a PS2 and I loved it as much as the others. And, it goes on, I anticipate Rayman Legends and enjoyed Rayman Origins
My Stance on the Rabbids
Like many others, I was initially disgusted with what the Rabbids had done to the franchise with the Rayman Raving Rabbids series, and I often became annoyed when mention of Rayman in daily life had him attributed to those critters. However, that was then, now, while I'm not a fan of the Rabbids, I respect them and enjoy playing their games at parties, and I personally think that the whole "RABBIDS RUINED RAYMAN!" thing needs to stop.
