General Pokémon Thread

God I had to go onto the second page to dig this up.

http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml

The starter English names have been revealed to be Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott. Felt the need to share this, I am quite indefferent to it tbh but some of you might be interested.

Their pun-names are so bad compared to those of the starters from the original Pokémon games. Is ‘Tepig’ seriously supposed to be ‘tepid’ + ‘pig’? Eugh.

‘Charmander’ – ‘char’ + ‘salamander’ – is brilliantly witty by comparison.

I don't know how many Pokemon there are now, but they're quite probably running out of decent ideas, I don't personally see any need to keep adding new pokemon. If they want to keep the series fresh they should change other things instead.
While I totally agree with you, I just love most of the new designs - I mean an electric spider? A fire moth? A freaking dragon that has axes for tusks?
That said, people who say the first two generations had the best designs are kind of blind - I mean they look cool because they were the first ones, but what were they really? Cats, mice, birds and butterflies. I guess that the fact that they used the most common things out there has forced them to be a little more... fancy? I guess.

This has got to be one of my most favorite pokemon ever.
Next to Gengar, Weavile and Alakazam. :P

I quite like these:

Waruvial, Desukan, Purotooga, Aaken, Archeos, Bachuru, Ononokusu, Crimgan, Wargle, Sazandora, Terrakion and Zekrom.

These from Gen. 5.

Just a quick bump from what hasnt been covered in this thread:

-All the Unova (isshu) Pokemon names have been revealed in late january 2011.
-In January 2011 they gave out Distributions of the 3 shiny beasts from Johto for the Zoroark event in B/W
-Celebi's event was from the last week of February 2011 to Launch date of PKMN B/W (March 6th 2011 a Sunday) in the USA through Nintendo Wi-Fi connection.
-Pokemon B/W's Dubbed Anime started Airing in Febuary after Zoroark's movie on Cartoon Network (USA)
-Pokemon B/W has been released Today (March 4th 2011) for Europe. (Australia waits until March 10th 2011.)

I hope people didn't forget about this game! because it's beautiful the battles and areas for this Generation!

That's a good music, but this one is still for me a classic:

But Hoenn's elite 4 is also very good:

Ah, the Fire Red one gives me the chills. I had a hard time with that Elite Four. (I should've known better than keeping a Butterfree in my team >_<)

I was watched the classic one as a kid, the first generation Pokèmons designs are supposed to be wild now...

1st Gen = Wild-like
2nd Gen = Kinda wild-like
3rd Gen = i don't know
4th Gen = i dont know, but is kinda futuristic or something
5th Gen = Something...

I still didn't play Gen 5 but I think the toughest Elite 4 is from Sinnoh.
