I have a text file on my desktop, containing typographic quotation marks and several distinct types of dashes. (No, they’re not interchangeable, and I don’t care whether anyone notices; I always write in correct English.) Whenever I want to use one of these characters, I copy and paste it. I can’t do the same for the disapproving face, since it’s in Unicode format, so it turns into a question mark whenever you try to save it in a text file. Sometimes I can find it online when I need it; sometimes I can’t. Now that I know its name, it will never be more than a search away.
