Anyone else find it weird that each version of Rayman 1 has some sort of weird oddity and changes? I grew up on Pal Ps1 Rayman and i remember years ago downloading an NTSC rom to play only to find the magicians voice changed, but it doesn't stop there! For some reason the Saturn has a record scratch in the victory theme and funky screen transitions then you have the Japanese copies that replace a majority of the sound effects for no reason then the original Jaguar version has a shoot'em up with Moskito and finally the pc version has deeper voices, tings sound worse and completely different cage layout. What was the need for all these odd changes i'll never understand.
Same here and yes, it's really weird playing other versions after growing up playing the PS1 version. The NTSC magician having a different voice genuinely had me thinking WTF!?
I own it on every platform now and the weird "yeah" with the scratching sounded so weird to me when I first heard it. I feel like the changes in the sound pitch had something to do with the weird way the PS1 worked when it came to playing sound effects. Most of the sounds had to be converted into weird formats for PS1 in most games. It's really weird and I prefer the PS1 version, then the missing music such as the drumbeat ones are because the PS1 had MIDI while the Saturn doesn't. Music such as Picture City Beat were actually MIDI drums on PS1.
