Just got my physical copy of the game! I've been pretty satisfied with it so far (the rewind feature is very helpful), though I'm not fully sure how I want to tackle completing it. I plan to do at least the PS1 and GBC versions of the game and the extra levels from Rayman Designer/By His Fans/60 Levels, but I'm still thinking about whether or not I want to do the other versions of the game. Guess I'll have to cross that Bongo Bridge when I get to it.

It really is a shame about the poster quality. You'd think for a 30th anniversary physical celebration they'd invest in sturdier paper that doesn't immediately show wear and whitened seams along the creases...

I'm genuinely disappointed now, I really wanted to decorate my wall with it but the flaws look so distracting, even my most deteriorated low-quality posters from game boxes of the 2010s don't look this bad...

In Ubisoft's slight defense (and WOW does that feel weird to say ), keep in mind that these posters come with every single physical copy of the 30th anniversary edition, and who knows how many of these they'll have of churn out within just the span of a year! I suspect that they went with a cheaper type of paper for the poster in order to keep manufacturing costs reasonable. Now, if this was only in a collector's edition or a pre-order bonus or something like that, then I would totally understand the complaints, but since there isn't a finite number of posters that need to be printed, I do sort of understand why the quality of the material isn't quite up to snuff.

• My normal copies of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Naruto Storm 4 had similar posters (which I remember not even being advertised as being included in the box... and the latter even came with an excellently made metal art plate despite being the regular edition [like what DOOM Eternal also had for example])...
  They're still in better condition even 10 bloody years later despite how little effort I did to take care of them... and they obviously had to churn out MANY more copies of them considering which franchises we're talking about.

• My poster from a crappy preowned copy of Halo 3 still looks near perfect with hardly any distracting white crease even 19 years later. And it was just made as a bonus for the back of the instructions set for the controller, which thus should be bundled in most if not all copies...

• I have some posters from some cheapass toy brands that came bundled with ~10-15€ packages that were produced in mass, and they look in near perfect condition after two decades despite all the abuse they had to survive through... and a few I had were from brands which weren't anywhere near from having a lot of budget.

I could still go on with dozens of other examples, but I have no doubt everyone already got the darn point and I don't wanna make this post even more of an eyesore.


Most of the advertising/selling point of these physical copies is the goodies that come with them, as most people already bought the digital release months ago.
I would only have let it slide as a mere bonus if both formats had nearly the same price and a more simultaneous time frame of release...
However, said copies are 15€ more expensive than the digital release, meaning they should be made with care and refrain from compromising on quality.

Can we PLEASE start having some f*cking standards for this franchise which we're actually supposed to love for its history of excellence, instead of constantly playing devil's advocate for no reason?
We shouldn't brush off every shit move just cuz "Cumon it's not so baaaaad!", "now Rayman is aliiiiiive at least! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ", or "just understand the formerly multibillion company!"

(Sorry, it's the ~20 last years of constant disappointments and the past decade of witnessing many fans' toxic positivity on social media that are starting to burst through.
I'm not aiming that outburst specifically at you bud, I get your intent )

Is there a reason 30th Anniversary Edition doesn't have a dedicated thread?

Anyway, I finally got this thing on PS5 and it's quite lovely but yadda yadda soundtrack. It wouldn't be so grating if this were just another straight port of R1, but as it's presented as a sort of digital museum, that provides the absolute worst framing for them to replace the music. It feels like I'm trying to catch up with an old friend but he has a completely different voice and I'm not allowed to acknowledge it.

Aside from the music, it's a great little release, and I appreciate the little extras that came with it even if they're not amazing. It's interesting to see those little postcard things were actually released long ago, and now they've recreated them.

I love that they included Rayman GBC and Rayman Advance. They really didn't have to throw those in, seeing as one is a completely different game and the other is obsolete hot dog water. But I love it. Where's the DSiWare port? Oh yeah, the PS5 doesn't have a camera.

Oh, and the prototype! It is very funny. When you press Square while running, Rayman moves his feet faster as if he's dashing but he doesn't actually move any faster. Great game. It should have been released on its own for $80.

That's mostly why it's a failure of a collection in my eyes.
It neither does enough of a proper job at preserving the game, or at enhancing it enough to at least call this a remaster... After 30 years, Rayman deserved way better.

I just beat Mr. Dark in Rayman 1 on the GBC, in Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition, but now my game is stuck on the 'The End' screen. No button does anything, so how can I go to the world map, find all the cages, and unlock the Dark Legacy levels?
