Damage

Throwing them at most Robo-Pirates kills them instantly. This means it must be more than 6 damage. --iHeckler9Life.gif 11:31, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

Are you aware of any Robo-Pirates who can survive a keg explosion – perhaps a Barrel Pirate? Throwing a keg at a pirate who can survive it and counting the number of shots required to finish it off should be enough to calculate the keg's damage. Perhaps the harm it does to Rayman should also be taken into account. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 11:54, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
I'm sure there are no kegs anywhere near Barrel Pirates, as memory serves. I'll check and edit if I find anything. --iHeckler9Life.gif 11:57, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure you get an opportunity to throw a keg at a Barrel Pirate towards the end of the Top of the World, though I can't recall the outcome. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 12:01, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Whoops. No Top of the World in my version, sorry. --iHeckler9Life.gif 12:02, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
I believe the area in question was cannibalised into another level in Revolution; perhaps the Echoing Caves. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 12:07, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
I found a keg next to a sleeping yellow pirate in Whale Bay. When I threw it at him this happened: http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/6591/dscf1272s.jpg Strange, eh? --iHeckler9Life.gif 14:16, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
And according to the list of Robo-Pirates, that one has a resistance of 2 HP. I give up. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 14:42, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
If you're slapping your forehead now, wait until you hear my great news: The keg in the Echoing Caves killed it outright! Unbelievable or what? --iHeckler9Life.gif 16:26, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
I guess I'm late but I can report that Kegs can kill a fully healthed Barrel Pirate. I think there's no Robo-Pirate that survives to it (I can remember that pirate of the Whale Bay doesn't get damage if you throw him an energy sphere while he sleeps; he just awakes), except maybe a Gorilla Pirate. This reminds me the cannon Balls of Warships: these take off a good ammount of energy to the Robo-Pirates. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 22:41, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
I already said that kegs kill Barrel Pirates, but that other part seems interesting. We need to find a place where you can throw a keg at a Gorilla Pirate (if you can of course). We must find out the hp of a Barrel Pirate to see what the minimum firepower of the keg could be. --iHeckler9Life.gif 13:23, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
The only place I can think of for the Gorilla Pirate is the Echoing Caves. There's a keg very close to him. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 13:55, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Let's have a new start: it looks like you're getting confused with all the different versions, this is why we should consider them separately (and avoid using Revolution as a reference given its dodgy resistance system). If we are to focus on the original version, there is a strong pirate (9 HP) at the end of the Tomb of the Ancients, in a room with a keg dispenser (just before the technical check-up). It's kinda hard since he keeps running after Rayman, but I know for a fact that it's possible to throw a keg at him. There is also the barrel pirate Spiral mentioned at the end of the Top of the World, with a resistance of 20 HP.

As concerns Revolution, it's hard to measure from a photograph but is that one third of the pirate's life? From what I know, a keg is enough to defeat a green pirate, but I don't know about their purple and red counterparts, is there any place to try? Also, Haruka, in which version were you able to defeat the barrel pirate with a single keg?

And finally, the cannons from the pirate ships inflict 5 damage in the PC, N64, DC and PS versions of the game. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 14:07, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

In Rayman 3D for sure too, since you mentioned the DC version. I was able to destroy the Barrel Pirate in a phase of the Top of the World with just one keg, and this happened in the PC version. So this means that it is also applicatable to the N64 and the DS versions. --Sparkle.gifHarukaSparkle.gif 14:29, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
N64 version: it seems that the damage a keg inflicts upon a Barrel Pirate depends on which part of the pirate is struck by the keg. Hitting the pirate's armoured back inflicts 3 HP of damage, and hitting the pirate directly in the face destroys it instantly. It's impossible to hit the same pirate in the back more than once, as it turns permanently towards Rayman when it detects his presence. We can conclude that a keg inflicts at least 20 HP of damage, and that it still manages to inflict 3 HP upon the Barrel Pirate's otherwise-invincible outer shell.

I have thrown a keg at the pirate right before the technical check-up and it inflicted him 5 damage, just like the bombs from the warships. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 18:53, 1 May 2011 (UTC)
