As concerns Revolution, it's hard to measure from a photograph but is that one third of the pirate's life? From what I know, a keg is enough to defeat a green pirate, but I don't know about their purple and red counterparts, is there any place to try? Also, Haruka, in which version were you able to defeat the barrel pirate with a single keg?

::In Rayman 3D for sure too, since you mentioned the DC version. I was able to destroy the Barrel Pirate in a phase of the Top of the World with just one keg, and this happened in the PC version. :N64 version: it seems that the damage a keg inflicts upon a Barrel Pirate depends on which part of the pirate is struck by the keg. Hitting the pirate's armoured back inflicts 3 HP of damage, and hitting the pirate directly in the face destroys it instantly. It's impossible to hit the same pirate in the back more than once, as it turns permanently towards Rayman when it detects his presence. We can conclude that a keg inflicts at least 20 HP of damage, and that it still manages to inflict 3 HP upon the Barrel Pirate's otherwise-invincible outer shell.
