Scaleman is an enemy character found only in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3, and is the first of two bosses of Pirate Stronghold, the last of the game's four worlds. If punched when standing still, Scaleman temporarily shrinks and runs back and forth. Rayman hurts Scaleman by stomping on him while his is shrunk. When full-size, Scaleman attacks by rolling himself into a ball, then either rolling back and forth, bouncing back and forth, or taking large bounces at wherever Rayman is.

Scaleman was originally intended to be a Hoodlum named the Kagalpha, and was planned to be the boss Rayman would fight in the Hoodlum Headquarters in Rayman 3 (though his name would have been changed by the game's release, possibly to 'Scaleman', or some different name beginning with 'H' or 'Hood'). The initial idea for this enemy was the notion of a small, highly-strung person who turns into a big, dangerous character. He was supposed to be present throughout the factory level in the form of a small Hoodlum boss, yelling at his companions to attack Rayman. He himself was supposed to be able to throw crates at Rayman, who would then give chase to him. At the end of the level, the Kagalpha inhaled helium which blew him up to an immense size but gave him a tiny little voice. In this form, he tried to crush Rayman who had to deflate him little by little by hitting him with his fists. The Kagalpha was cut out from the final version of the game and replaced by the Horrible Machine, but he remains largely intact in the Game Boy Advance adaptation of Rayman 3 as Scaleman.
