The game apparently still takes place in the Rayman 2 universe, though in other locations previously unrevealed. This world is suddenly invaded with Black Lums, the product of Red Lums that had been frightened. Clusters of Black Lums formed and had been stealing the fur from several animals to make disguises, which then become known as Hoodlums, sack like creatures that sport a variety of weapons. Led by André, the first Black Lum to have been created and thus the leader, the Hoodlums attempted to reach the Heart of the World in order to corrupt it and create thousands of more Black Lums. However, as soon as they were about to reach their goal, Globox accidentally swallowed André when he and Rayman were trying tgo foil their plans.
