Talk:Rayman 3

From RayWiki, the Rayman wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search Could someone put these big, heavy images into the article? --iHeckler9Life.gif 16:27, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

All those images look small to me. Is there a joke I'm missing here? —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 17:59, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
Well, it was a joke, but if you're being serious, have you tried clicking on them? --iHeckler9Life.gif 18:02, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
The enlarged versions are still small. I don't get it. In any case it would obviously be better to add the images to the relevant pages rather than lumping them all into the Rayman 3 article. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 18:07, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
I'll make a start, but I only know where some of them should go. --iHeckler9Life.gif 06:43, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

I think the 3rd of March 2003 was the UK release date of the PS2 version, the Gamecube version was released a month earlier; that's about all I remember. --Cairnie 18:55, 16 February 2012 (CET)

That's why I came to the discussion page... not sure when exactly the GameCube version came out, but it was definitely about a month before the others. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 15:24, 22 February 2012 (CET)
According to Gamefly, the GameCube version was released on 12th March 2003,[1] and the PS2 and Xbox versions were released on the 20th of the same month.[2][3]
IGN claims that the GameCube and Game Boy Advance versions were released on the 4th of March.[4]
I'm not sure what to make of the 3rd/4th discrepancy. Maybe it has something to do with regions. —Spiraldoor IconSpiralDoor.png 16:50, 22 February 2012 (CET)

Dan Cache I found a bunch of Rayman 3 beta pictures, but I'm having trouble uploading them. This keeps happening:

  • Could not open lock file for "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/9/9b".
  • Could not open lock file for "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/9/9b/imagenameherpaderpderp.jpg"."

What's happening, and, if it's serious, could someone upload them instead? --iHeckler9Life.gif 18:30, 10 July 2013 (CEST)

Did you try actually saving them onto your computer first? --Cairnie (talk) 22:05, 10 July 2013 (CEST)
Yes. --iHeckler9Life.gif 14:26, 11 July 2013 (CEST)
OK I tried a different image and it's definitely not just these Unseen64 ones, it's affecting the uploading of images entirely. --Cairnie (talk) 17:17, 11 July 2013 (CEST)
Awesome images! Can you please try again now? —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 15:26, 15 July 2013 (CEST)
I tried, it still doesn't work. --iHeckler9Life.gif 21:06, 15 July 2013 (CEST)
The isssue is now fixed. :) —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 18:05, 24 July 2013 (CEST)

Text dump or something I found this text file on this site that claims to be from the GameCube version of the game. Is any of it useful? --iHeckler9Life.gif 17:06, 20 May 2014 (CEST

I know GOT4N/Weshkanapesh is involved with TCRF, perhaps it'd be best to hear what he has to say about it. --Sig5 2TEST.png 17:29, 20 May 2014 (CEST)

Strategy guide Supposedly there was a Rayman 3 strategy guide, could this be of any use to anyone? --iHeckler9Life.gif 00:20, 24 March 2015 (CET)

Well yes, why not? We could create an article about it, just like I did for the French guide (
And who knows? Maybe it could provide interesting information (other names for the enemies or the objects for example).-- Boomboleros7 22:42, 02:04, 25 March 2015 (CET)
From the skim-reading I've done of it it uses different names for the Hoodlums and boss attacks. --iHeckler9Life.gif 17:55, 24 March 2015 (CET)

Skimming through the article, it does seem that there are some pretty large and unsightly walls of text without any proper breaks. I'd be tempted to refine things down so that they're easier to comprehend and read through. --Sig5 2TEST.png 00:01, 1 May 2015 (CEST)

I agree, it's one thing to have as much info on something as poss but presenting it well us another. You do what you gotta do. --Cairnie (talk) 12:46, 1 May 2015 (CEST)

References cleanup

I have removed or amended the following items for the corresponding reasons:

  • "The airballoon from Rayman 2, appears in the level "Clearleaf forest"." Is it actually the same air balloon? Asset reuse is not necessarily a reference anyway.
  • "Zombie-checkens from Rayman 2 makes an appart in the level "Desert of the Kanarrens"." Returning enemies/characters are more than just a reference.
  • "Céloche's 'eyes', the 'face' on its turret, the 'eyes' on the metal fish and details on the side of the laser cannon use a texture from Rayman 2, identical to the portholes found in Robo-Pirate strongholds." Asset reuse is not necessarily a reference.
  • "In Globox´s quote, he says that rayman was "much nicer in Rayman 2"." Fair enough, but this should probably be grouped with the many other references to R1 and R2 in the dialogue. Keeping it for now.
  • "The minigame "Rocket jump" is similar to the game "pong"." It's a tennis game, that's about it.
  • "The minigame "2D madness" references the first Rayman game." Why not, I've added the manual and 2D Nightmare but there's probably more.
  • ""They are out there, I have seen them" is a quote of a movie I cannot recall at the moment." Do I really need to address this? Boon.gif
  • "Globox´s quote "king of the doors" is a parody of "king of the djungle"." Please elaborate?
  • "Globox´s quote "You have seen too many Gladiator flicks" is a reference the the movie serie "Gladiator"." Where do I even start here? Boon.gifBoon.gif
  • "*Rayman going through the witches mirror is similar to how Alice went through the mirror to a new world in the novel "Through the looking glass"." I think the word "similar" nailed it.
  • "Razoff´s quote "Dont prick yourself" is a reference to how Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on a spinning will after being cursed by the evil witch in the fairy tail and Disney-movie by the same name." How far-fetched is this going to get?
  • "The enemy "Grim keeper" is a parody of "Grim reaper"." It's a pun, not a reference to other media.
  • "The enemy "Armaguiddon" is a pun on "Armageddon"." Ditto.
  • "In the level "Tower of leptys", there is a statue of kanaaren holding a boulder above his head, which is a reference to Sisyphus and his boulder, and Atlas that holds the world on his shoulders." Definitely Atlas, not Sisyphus.
  • "In the level "Fairy Council", the ludiv says "Is that you Mary Lou?", where Mary Lou is a reference to the song "Hello Mary Lou" from 1961." Just because the name is the same??
  • "It is highly likely that Céloche's design was inspired by that of the Martian tripod from H.G. Wells's classic science fiction novel, The War of the Worlds. Both are gigantic, mechanical tripods; both are piloted by antagonists; both use a Heat-Ray weapon; and both are capable of traversing both land and water." Not a place for "likely" references and other speculation.

In the future, please use this topic to discuss references before adding them to the article. —RRRGBAIcon8.pngRRRGBAIcon0.gifRRRGBAIcon1.png 19:32, 11 January 2021 (CET)

Xbox release date?

I've noticed that there are release dates for GameCube, PC and PS2, but I don't see Xbox listed under release dates. Was it just simply the same as PC and PS2, or is it unknown? --Steo sig.png 06:01, 20 January 2021 (CET)

Well, according to Wikipedia, the Xbox release was the same as PS2. It's weird that the Xbox release is not mentioned in the infobox, I guess it was just a mistake. --Elite Piranha IconLyR3GBA.png 06:42, 20 January 2021 (CET)
