The Front is the name of an island?

  • If you compare the arrangement of the areas of the island on the official map of the Glade of Dreams (http://www.raymanpc.com/wiki/script-en/images/e/ea/Rayman2_map.jpg) and the distribution of the levels in the three areas of the Front, you can see a lot of similarities. In fact, you can draw precise borders, which divide the island into three parts. So, does it mean that the Front is the name of this big island at the center of the Glade of Dreams? -- Boomboleros7 16:42, 21 May 2012 (CEST)
Can we have your version of what the Front is in picture form? I'm struggling to picture it. --iHeckler9  17:08, 21 May 2012 (CEST)
I think the Front is the entire island. -- Boomboleros7 17:18, 21 May 2012 (CEST)

The name 'the Front' is used exactly once in Revolution, by the Grand Minimus when he transports Rayman there. This happens in the Woods of Light, so that level can't possibly be part of the Front. Since the map shows that the Woods of Light is located on the island, there's no way that 'the Front' could be the island's name. —Spiraldoor   18:22, 21 May 2012 (CEST)
Okay. But in that case, what proves that 'the Front' is a proper noun? The name of an area? In the sentence of the Grand Minimus, 'Front' could be a common noun, which refers to a military front, a battlefront, where Rayman will fight the Robo-Pirates. Furthermore, the Grand Minimus said "We can send you to the front, where the Pirates are". And that's right, the Pirates are present in most of the other levels after the Woods of Light. What do you think? -- Boomboleros7 19:43, 21 May 2012 (CEST)
We have no way of knowing whether the word 'Front' should be capitalised, since the game's font doesn't have a lower case. We simply capitalised it because that's the way level/world names are generally spelt.
If there was ever an official source that confirmed the Front to be the collective name for the game's hub levels, it's long forgotten, but that was already the meaning everyone believed the word to hold when I joined this site in 2008, and I've always assumed it was correct.
The word 'front' has many meanings, one of which is 'the land along a seashore or large lake', which certainly applies to the Minisaurus Plane, Globox House and Rainbow Creek. Your interpretation that it refers to the pirates' military force is another possibility. Perhaps we should check the wording in the original French version of the game to see if it's more specific? —Spiraldoor   20:18, 21 May 2012 (CEST)
