Experts in Psychological Warfare, the airborn Hoodstormer units are superbly trained in the art of annoying enemies into submission with strategic swooping maneuvers. Commanding poor pedaling creatures to power their propellers, Hoodstormer pilots train in the swamplands to learn the attack patterns of the ultimate airborn annoyance - mosquitoes.

Hoodstormer in mid-combat with Rayman in the Land of the Livid Dead

The Hoodstormer is a common member of the Hoodlum Army and is most recognised for its ability to fly. Despite being one of the smallest members, the Hoodstormer is one of the most irritating Hoodlums (taking its battle strategy from the mosquitoes) as its flying ability makes it difficult to attack - no direct combat can be made. In order to defeat this Hoodlum, one must fire individual lateral shots from distance. If the attacking distance is too close, or if only normal shots are fired, the Hoodstormer will dodge the shots by vertical movement. The Hoodstormer first appears in The Land of the Livid Dead, part 1. Hoodstormers also come out of the The Horrible Machine two at a time.

The Hoodstormer appears once again in Hoodlum Hideout, where it swoops out from above randomly, shoots only two shots and only takes one hit to defeat. There are only three of these in the entire game.

In the minigame Commando, the Hoodstormer is the mini-boss of the second stage and takes only three hits from Razoff's gun to kill.

An early version of the Hoodstormer

Attack

Similarly to the Heckler, the Hoodstormer has been given a powerful gun box. This is strapped to the back of the Hoodlum and is operated in the same way: when the chain is pulled, consecutive shots will be fired at any given direction. However unlike the Heckler's, only three consecutive shots are fired per round and the Hoodstormer can move around while firing the shots.

Appearance

Unlike the conventional Hoodlum appearance, the Hoodstormer is legless. Fortunately its propeller (fastened to the top of its helmet) eradicates this problem as the Hoodstormer is constantly airborne. This Hoodlum also wears pilot glasses.
