Sparadrap

Mediocre at best architecturally, the pirates are obliged to reinforce their constructions with sparadraps. The wooden sparadraps are very fragile but the metal ones will only yield to an explosive.

Sparadraps, also known as Blockades, are breakable objects introduced in Rayman 2. They also appear in the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman 3, the Game Boy Advance version of Rayman Raving Rabbids and the Nintendo DS version of Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Description

Sparadraps are used in various locations to reinforce or seal certain structures, such as doors or pipes. They are usually seen in Robo-Pirate installations, but some can also be found in other locations, such as on collapsible pillars within a temple in the Sanctuary of Stone and Fire. Breaking sparadraps yields different results, in some cases, it causes the structure to collapse. In other cases, it may cause a malfunction to occur in connected machinery, as was done with the machine imprisoning Ly in the Fairy Glade.

There are two varieties of sparadrap, wooden sparadraps are lighter in colour, and can be easily destroyed with a single shot. Metal sparadraps are not as easily destroyed, and often have to be hit with an explosive item, such as a Keg or Walking Shell. The name 'sparadrap' is the French word for 'plaster', since they resemble plasters and similar bandages.

In the Nintendo DS version of Rayman Raving Rabbids sparadrops represent the weak point on certain larger enemies, such as Rabbids on trains.
