An electric barrel[1] is a living obstacle that is present in some of the race tracks from Rayman M. Although they share some similarities with the Barrel Pirates, these shall not be confused. The electrical barrels can slow down the racers by making them touch their own electrical shields.
Description
Electric barrels are static, time-based obstacles. Standing near them is not advised, as they can stun a racer by creating an electrical shield around themselves. While doing so, the barrels convulte and shake uncontrollably, what suggests that they are not immune to their own electrical power. They are slighty taller than the player character and are made out of steel plates. The barrels have a pair of arms with hands and a visor with a pair of eyes peeking out of it.
They can be found in two racing levels in Rayman M: Pipe Maze and Lava Factory, although their number is reduced in the PlayStation 2 version. They are completely absent from the Gamecube and Xbox version and Rayman Rush.
Trivia
- It is possible to collect the barrels during the race by using a combination of keys on a pad. It is probably a leftover from the process of development of the game.[2]
