Punching clowns, also known as big clowns and simply as clowns, are resistant enemies that appear in the original Rayman game, Rayman Junior, Rayman Designer and Rayman Activity Centre. They are found in Candy Château.
They freely wander on their platform, turning backwards when they face an obstacle. When Rayman is in sight, they start hitting the ground with their mallets, whose vibrations temporarily stun Rayman if he is in contact with a platform.
In the Atari Jaguar version, they only take 4 weak telescopic fist hits to be defeated.

Main article: The Clown in Love
Rayman Activity Centre contains a activity entitled the Clown in Love. In this mini-game, the player controls a clown who is in love with a girl who has beautiful blue eyes. The player must use the clown's bow and arrow to burst balloons and spell out words. Upon completing a level, the clown sings and plays love songs on his guitar. The girl is never seen, and her identity remains unknown. As the game is evidently set after the events of the original Rayman game, the clowns remain as friendly characters as opposed to enemies.
In Rayman CP
The clown returns in Rayman CP, where he sings a song revealing his big secret - his crush is none other than Betilla the Fairy.
