Rayman CP is an educational game based on the original Rayman and a part of the Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire series. This game was released in 1999 for PC and MAC. It is only sold in France and Canada and available in the French language. The game was designed with a team of teachers and educationalists, in accordance with the official programmes of the Department of Education. Aimed for an audience of young children between six and seven years old, Rayman CP helps them in their first year at the primary school with an introduction to the reading and the calculus, creativity, music and English workshops and games that familiarize the player with the mouse and the keyboard. Some earlier editions of Rayman CP were bundled with an exclusive Rayman-branded computer mouse.
Gameplay
Rayman CP includes two CD-ROMs. The first one is consecrated to reading, English and creativity. The second one is consecrated to calculus, music and games.
On the screen title of each CD-ROM, Rayman, settled down in a hot-air balloon and proposes to the player to write his name with the keyboard or to select his name in the list if he wants to continue his game. 30 different names can be written. When we start a game, Rayman presents his friends to the player.
In the two CD-ROMs, the player arrives in an extraordinary town, with a street and a train station. Rayman and his friend the Clown present the place before letting the player continue alone. From the street, The player can access the educational activities by clicking on the objects, and the activities of creativity and relaxation by clicking on the train station.
At the bottom of the screen, there is a toolbar with numerous icons. With them, the player can listen again to the instructions of an activity, select the level of difficulty (Easy, Medium or Hard), validate an answer, reach the rewards screen or the results screen, go directly to the street or the train station and quit the game.
During the two CD-ROMs, the player is encouraged by Rayman and wins concrete, motivating and progressive rewards. When an activity is finished in a level of difficulty, the player sees Rayman perform a song and wins an object, which is added to the rewards board. When ten objects are collected, the player wins a screen saver. When each activity is finished in the same level of difficulty, the player wins a mini-game, accessible from the rewards screen. When an activity is finished in the three levels of difficulty, the player wins a printable game, accessible from the results screen. When a CD-ROM is finished, a mysterious sentence appears on the rewards screen. If the player sends the mysterious sentence of the two CD-ROMs with the form provided with the manual, he will receive a special gift at his house.
Another game of the Rayman Accompagnement Scolaire series released in 1999, Rayman Maternelle, uses the same gameplay and some characters and activities of Rayman CP.
Some characters and activities of Rayman CP are present in Rayman Activity Centre, an English educational game.
