Parachute-carrying Henchman 800s

Parachuting Pirates (name is a conjecture based on appearance) are a special variety of Henchman 800 from Rayman 2: Revolution. In many parts of the game, Henchman 800 of various ranks (most commonly green and purple ranks) will parachute down from the sky or from a warship to attack Rayman in numbers. The first instance of parachuting Robo-Pirates is in the final area of the Fairy's Glade, where they attack Rayman as he rises through the air currents.

Parachuting Pirate battles are treated as some sort of "major battles" and in most cases Rayman is required to defeat every wave of Robo-Pirates to continue. Twice, however, these ambushes are treated as full-thrown mini-boss battles: once in the Bayou (when Rayman finds Bzzit) and near the end of the Canopy (during Rayman's battle against the warship). The appearance of sky-borne pirates is always marked by a special, somewhat dramatic battle theme that plays until all the pirates have been defeated.

Appearances in Rayman 2

They were thought to be unique to Rayman Revolution, but a Parachuting Pirate also appears in the PC version of Rayman 2: the Great Escape. It appears in the Tomb of the Ancients and is purple of rank. When flying with the keg, and when you have the option to take another route through a pipe, go through the pipe. Then, after another flight with a keg, on a wooden bridge with a floating barrel under it, a Parachuting Pirate can be seen (and heard: when appearing, it makes a sound the ninja pirate also makes when appearing (perhaps it's opening it's parachute) and shortly after that, it makes some kind of electrical buzzing noise (this could also be interpreted as a sound the chains of the parachute make when they are cut loose and scrape the barrel of the pirate's gun)) At least, here is a prove that the Parachuting Pirate was one of the original ideas of the Rayman 2 designers!
