Not only that, but I recognize some of Garijo's voice lines from Rayman 3--which means they actually left some of his work in the English dub of the game. I just find this stuff so intriguing. Does that mean we don't know exactly who voiced Barbara and the Teensies?
It's completely unknown who voiced Barbara; The Playable Teensy were apparently voiced by Doug Rand, as was the Polokus in Origins and legends ^_^ (In fact, I think the reason he was the only one credited was because of his voice in the Legends intro lol).

I find it funny that Emmanuel and Pierre probably don't know Ubisoft used their voices in the game ToT, Ubisoft seriously sucked at giving credits

Re: Rayman merchandise
I got Globox, and he's a lot bigger than I expected. However, they spelled his name "Globlox", no doubt confusing him with the game Roblox which every middle school kid plays.

Re: Rayman Legends Retold
Hi everyone! Time to share some thoughts at last.

First of all, I am over the moon that Rayman is finally getting something new, even if it's just an expanded version of the last game. I have already preordered my physical copy with the map, I'll get the deluxe version expansion pack from the PlayStore, and I'm going to play the heck out of it. It's been like 8 years since the last time I played through Legends, so I'm going to have fun regarless of it being basically the same game again.

I'll preface this by stating that I was never the biggest fan of the UbiArt games, not even when they first came out. Already when Origins released, I had been waiting for Rayman 4 since 2003. Getting a new entry in the series that basically flushed all previously-established lore down the toilet was bittersweet. Rayman 2 was my first Rayman game, followed by Rayman 3. So I find it baffling that, to some, the lore and story of a Rayman game is not an important factor. For me, it's what I like the most about the franchise: the characters, the story, the sense of discovery... And that brings me to the exploration. What I've always liked the most about Rayman games is not the platforming or the speed, it's the exploration. As Hunch was saying earlier, getting to explore and mysterious world full of outladish, yet lovable creatures. I enjoy the UbiArt games for what they are, fun 2D platformers with an impressive hand-drawn artstyle. But as Rayman games, they leave a lot to be desired.

The fact that the team at Ubisoft decided that, from a lore standpoint, Rayman Legends was the most diverse version of the Glade of Dreams is, to put it bluntly, laughable. Rayman Legends introduces, as previously stated by Hunch and some others, quite a few world themes oddly connected to real-life humans: Medieval castles, Greek temples, the Fiesta de los Muertos... All of them so lazy and uninspired compared to what came before. And Barbara. Oh, Barbara. Don't even get me started. She sticks out like a sore thumb. How the hell did a human Viking princess spawn in the middle of the Glade of Dreams? I could never imagine her being in the same cutscene as Ly the Fairy.

Now, Retold promises to at least alleviate some of these issues. I like the new 3D look for the game. Specifically there is a night-time level that takes place in a forest, which reminded me of the first stage of The Fairy Council from Rayman 3. Even in the first level, the castle bridge section after the big jump reminds me somehow of Clearleaf Forest, might be the colours and lighting. I feel like it sets a nice middle ground between the older 3D games and the UbiArt games. And "Don't Touch This" looks stunning, with those colours and the disco lights.

But what I'm most excited about is the brand new story. Yes, the only good thing about the original game having no story at all is that we're now getting a 100% original Rayman story. Who knows, maybe that will make me come round. Could we get some background as to who Barbara is and where she came from? Or who all those random pricesses even are? I don't want to set unrealistic expectations. But I am hoping for some nods to events from previous games, or some long-absent characters being mentioned (Clark, Ly, are you still alive?). Oh, also, is this a good moment to bring up the skins? The Hoodmonger Globox and Heavy Metal Fist Rayman skins look incredible! They're the number 1 reason why I rushed to preorder the game immediately after it was announced. And what about Betilla Barbara, the original Rayman, Hunter Globox and Electoon Teensie? They knocked it out of the park with those. Probably the only reason I'd even pick Barbara.

So, yeah, it's a mixed bag but I'm predominantly hopeful about Rayman's future and ready to enjoy this game for what it is. I won't even complain about that suspicious, definitely not AI-generated Betilla the Fairy.

P. S. Did no one think of the new villain being the original Magician from R1? I definitely think it's a new character, but that would be cool too.

Rayman Legends Actually Uses 4 Different Rayman Voice Actors
Hi everyone!
Today I'd like to share a fun piece of Rayman trivia that I've spent quite a lot of time researching.

There is a common misconception in the fandom that Doug Rand performed all voice clips in Rayman Legends (I've even seen people claim he voiced Barbara as well). While this confusion is understandable, this is not actually the case.

Part of the confusion comes from Ubisoft's credits. In Rayman Legends, Doug Rand is the only voice actor specifically credited, despite multiple voices appearing throughout the game. Unfortunately, Ubisoft has a long history of not properly crediting voice actors in the Rayman franchise, so this situation is not entirely surprising.

The most curious thing is Rayman's voice in this game, What I've found is that Rayman Legends appears to use voice clips from four different performers across its development history.

The Origins Prototype Voices
To understand Legends, we first need to go back to Rayman Origins.
During early development, Rayman did not yet have an official voice actor for the project. As a result, the developers reused existing voice clips as placeholders. These clips came from:
Rayman 3 (French voice)
The Rayman 3 beta
Rayman 4 prototype/ Rayman Raving Rabbids
The Rayman 3 voice in France was performed by Emmanuel Garijo.
The Rayman Raving Rabbids voice was performed by Pierre-Alain de Garrigues, although many fans don't know this because he was never credited in the final game.
According to an interview, Pierre talked about voicing Rayman in RRR in an interview . He also worked on early interpretations of the Teensies and helped establish a voice style for the Rabbids before Yoann Perrier ("Popo the Rabbid") was ultimately chosen to become the Rabbids' main voice performer.
You can still hear traces of Pierre's work like the rabbids in early trailers and leaked prototype builds.

Gabrielle's Version of Rayman
As Origins development progressed, the game underwent major changes and Rayman finally received a dedicated performer.
Surprisingly, that performer is Gabrielle, the writer of Rayman Origins.
This information comes from leaked Origins development scripts that identify who performed various character voices.
In this early stage, Gabrielle gave Rayman a much higher-pitched voice, somewhat reminiscent of Mario. Later in development, she reworked the performance into the version we hear in the final release of Rayman Origins.

Rayman Legends
This is where things become particularly interesting.
Evidence suggests that Rayman Legends reused some of the older prototype voice clips originally heard in early Origins development while also introducing newly recorded lines by Doug Rand.

In other words, Rayman's voice in Legends is not entirely Doug Rand's performance. Instead, the game appears to contain a mixture of:
  • Emmanuel Garijo
  • Pierre-Alain de Garrigues
  • Gabrielle
  • Doug Rand
To help demonstrate this, I created a comparison video showing the various voice clips used in Origins prototypes, the final Origins release, and Legends, along with the performers associated with each one:

The newly recorded lines in Legends sound very similar to Doug Rand's other voice work.

In fact, on one of his videos, a commenter complimented him on his "Rayman Origins" voice, and Doug responded with a heart reaction. Doug may have simply confused Origins with Legends, especially since a large portion of Legends' development was originally known internally as "Rayman Origins 2."

Of course, because these games were not properly credited and documentation is limited, it is difficult to establish every detail with complete certainty. However, based on the currently available evidence, this appears to be the most accurate explanation for why Rayman's voice sounds different across various clips in Legends.
Thank you for reading!
Special thanks to Droolie for helping me research and verify much of the information presented here.

Re: Rayman Legends Retold

Sabertooth wrote: Wed Jun 10, 2026 5:13 pm I'm not following this line of logic...Legends is the most recent game in the series, so it's the game that effectively killed it off for fifteen years. The game that didn't do well enough to justify any further sequels by Ubisoft's standards. Why would releasing the same game now bear a different result?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's completely befuddled why they're doing this.

Today, Pirate-Community just turned eighteen. While the Rayman franchise is in limbo, and the past year was marked by Michel Ancel's departure from the video game industry, the community is still active and productive, with a strong focus on fan games, reverse-engineering and tooling, and Pirate-Community is at the very center of it. Always providing fans with the best possible resources and discussion platforms, we've extended our coverage with the creation of a new Rayman speedrunning section, which hosted a successful contest in which the fastest runners won rare merchandise, and we've connected further with the rest of the community, as shown by our affiliation with the r/Rayman subreddit

Over the last year, 16,639 messages were posted on the forum, adding to a total of 1,353,334, while RayWiki, with 111 new articles, now boasts a total of 5,839 in 8 languages. RayTunes saw many additions to its already extensive coverage of Rayman music, with new tracks from seven games from Rayman Junior to Rayman Mini.

The Rayman 3 Hall of Fame was also brought back from the dead thanks to our members' expertise, and plans are underway to create one for Rayman Raving Rabbids.

Pirate-Community has reached the age of majority for most countries in the world now, which is an impressive achievement no one would have expected at the time of its creation, and we are more determined than ever to ensure it will still be around for an even longer period of time.

Long live Rayman, long live Pirate-Community!

Hello, fellow Pirate-Community members. It seems very unusual to see me here! But, that's because it's really for a very special announcement. As the owner of the /r/Rayman subreddit!

We are happy to announce that the r/Rayman has finally joined forces with the Rayman Pirate-Community Forum!

That's right, you read this correctly! It’s been long time coming, but we have finally made it to this point. Its forum houses the great services from RayTunes, Raywiki and RaySaves. Not to mention, has been a key contributor to all things Rayman and essentially the grandfather of all communities including our own! We noticed we share the same beliefs of making the community bigger and better. So we are very glad to be a part of this change.

It would be very nice if people in this community can support eachother. So we implore you if you can please join and sign up for the Reddit today. It will really contribute to its activity and will be greatly appreciated!

That being said, we have finally opened a Rayman Discord server which has been in the works for a long while now. In addition, to celebrate the week of its return. We are going to host a VC event for the current Ubisoft Forward which will be happening on Saturday 12th June, on 12PM PDT! We are very excited to host this event.

If you want to join the new server: Send a PM to myself, Steo or Hunchman801 to get an invite I hope we can see you there for this upcoming event!

It's with great pleasure that I announce the launch of our brand new speedrunning section! :partyhat:

The Rayman series provides runners with a diverse set of games on which they can test their creativity in their attempts to complete them in the fastest way possible, therefore it's no surprise that the Rayman speedrunning community is thriving today, thanks to its active and talented runners but also thanks to all those who support them, whether by building tools or discovering glitches.

In order to provide the community with a great space to share runs, discuss techniques and participate in various events, we are lucky to be assisted by a team of experienced runners who will ensure that we remain on top of the speedrunning game! So far, we have been joined by kronkie10, DarnokPL, markyard44, Lucidruns, Payman, DepressingChild and ScalieDan! Their experience extends across most of the series, from Rayman 1 to Rayman Legends, and even the popular fangame Rayman Redemption. And for those who settle for nothing but perfection, we even have some serious TAS (tool-assisted speedrun) action going on! I must stress that we are still actively recruiting, so if you're an experienced runner interested in moderating this section, by all means please get in touch and let's give the speedrunning community the forum it deserves! 8)

There are things however that no human does better than computers, and that's why our faithful SpeedBot will be posting all the latest runs from speedrun.com in this section, so that you'll never miss an important breakthrough or a crucial leaderboard change!

And of course, a launch would be quite sad without a celebration, that's why we have decided to host a worldwide speedrunning competition with rare Rayman merch for prizes! Surely that's a good enough reason to fire up your games and dust off those speedrunning skills, isn't it?

In the future, we hope to provide you with many more cool events and features, so please stay tuned and let the race begin! :proud:
