Talk:Rayman 3
http://www.neoseeker.com/Games/Products/PC/rayman3/concept_art.html Could someone put these big, heavy images into the article? --iHeckler9

- All those images look small to me. Is there a joke I'm missing here? —Spiraldoor

- Well, it was a joke, but if you're being serious, have you tried clicking on them? --iHeckler9

- The enlarged versions are still small. I don't get it. In any case it would obviously be better to add the images to the relevant pages rather than lumping them all into the Rayman 3 article. —Spiraldoor

- I'll make a start, but I only know where some of them should go. --iHeckler9

Dates
I think the 3rd of March 2003 was the UK release date of the PS2 version, the Gamecube version was released a month earlier; that's about all I remember. --Cairnie 18:55, 16 February 2012 (CET)
- That's why I came to the discussion page... not sure when exactly the GameCube version came out, but it was definitely about a month before the others. — 15:24, 22 February 2012 (CET)
- According to Gamefly, the GameCube version was released on 12th March 2003,[1] and the PS2 and Xbox versions were released on the 20th of the same month.[2][3]
IGN claims that the GameCube and Game Boy Advance versions were released on the 4th of March.[4]
I'm not sure what to make of the 3rd/4th discrepancy. Maybe it has something to do with regions. —Spiraldoor 16:50, 22 February 2012 (CET)

Dan Cache
http://www.unseen64.net/wp-content/gallery/rayman-3/ I found a bunch of Rayman 3 beta pictures, but I'm having trouble uploading them. This keeps happening:
- Could not open lock file for "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/9/9b".
- Could not open lock file for "mwstore://local-backend/local-public/9/9b/imagenameherpaderpderp.jpg"."
What's happening, and, if it's serious, could someone upload them instead? --iHeckler9 18:30, 10 July 2013 (CEST)
- Did you try actually saving them onto your computer first? --Cairnie (talk) 22:05, 10 July 2013 (CEST)
- Awesome images! Can you please try again now? — 15:26, 15 July 2013 (CEST)
- I tried, it still doesn't work. --iHeckler9 21:06, 15 July 2013 (CEST)
Text dump or something
http://tcrf.net/Rayman_3_(GameCube) I found this text file on this site that claims to be from the GameCube version of the game. Is any of it useful? --iHeckler9 17:06, 20 May 2014 (CEST
Strategy guide
http://rayman3walktrough.tumblr.com/ Supposedly there was a Rayman 3 strategy guide, could this be of any use to anyone? --iHeckler9 00:20, 24 March 2015 (CET)
- Well yes, why not? We could create an article about it, just like I did for the French guide (http://raymanpc.com/wiki/fr/Rayman_3_:_Hoodlum_Havoc_:_Le_Guide_Strat%C3%A9gique_Officiel)
- And who knows? Maybe it could provide interesting information (other names for the enemies or the objects for example).-- Boomboleros7 22:42, 02:04, 25 March 2015 (CET)
- From the skim-reading I've done of it it uses different names for the Hoodlums and boss attacks. --iHeckler9 17:55, 24 March 2015 (CET)
Rewrite?
Skimming through the article, it does seem that there are some pretty large and unsightly walls of text without any proper breaks. I'd be tempted to refine things down so that they're easier to comprehend and read through. -- 00:01, 1 May 2015 (CEST)
References cleanup
I have removed or amended the following items for the corresponding reasons:
- "The airballoon from Rayman 2, appears in the level "Clearleaf forest"." Is it actually the same air balloon? Asset reuse is not necessarily a reference anyway.
- "Zombie-checkens from Rayman 2 makes an appart in the level "Desert of the Kanarrens"." Returning enemies/characters are more than just a reference.
- "Céloche's 'eyes', the 'face' on its turret, the 'eyes' on the metal fish and details on the side of the laser cannon use a texture from Rayman 2, identical to the portholes found in Robo-Pirate strongholds." Asset reuse is not necessarily a reference.
- "In Globox´s quote, he says that rayman was "much nicer in Rayman 2"." Fair enough, but this should probably be grouped with the many other references to R1 and R2 in the dialogue. Keeping it for now.
- "The minigame "Rocket jump" is similar to the game "pong"." It's a tennis game, that's about it.
- "The minigame "2D madness" references the first Rayman game." Why not, I've added the manual and 2D Nightmare but there's probably more.
- ""They are out there, I have seen them" is a quote of a movie I cannot recall at the moment." Do I really need to address this?
- "Globox´s quote "king of the doors" is a parody of "king of the djungle"." Please elaborate?
- "Globox´s quote "You have seen too many Gladiator flicks" is a reference the the movie serie "Gladiator"." Where do I even start here?
- "*Rayman going through the witches mirror is similar to how Alice went through the mirror to a new world in the novel "Through the looking glass"." I think the word "similar" nailed it.
- "Razoff´s quote "Dont prick yourself" is a reference to how Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger on a spinning will after being cursed by the evil witch in the fairy tail and Disney-movie by the same name." How far-fetched is this going to get?
- "The enemy "Grim keeper" is a parody of "Grim reaper"." It's a pun, not a reference to other media.
- "The enemy "Armaguiddon" is a pun on "Armageddon"." Ditto.
- "In the level "Tower of leptys", there is a statue of kanaaren holding a boulder above his head, which is a reference to Sisyphus and his boulder, and Atlas that holds the world on his shoulders." Definitely Atlas, not Sisyphus.
- "In the level "Fairy Council", the ludiv says "Is that you Mary Lou?", where Mary Lou is a reference to the song "Hello Mary Lou" from 1961." Just because the name is the same??
- "It is highly likely that Céloche's design was inspired by that of the Martian tripod from H.G. Wells's classic science fiction novel, The War of the Worlds. Both are gigantic, mechanical tripods; both are piloted by antagonists; both use a Heat-Ray weapon; and both are capable of traversing both land and water." Not a place for "likely" references and other speculation.
In the future, please use this topic to discuss references before adding them to the article. — 19:32, 11 January 2021 (CET)
Xbox release date?
I've noticed that there are release dates for GameCube, PC and PS2, but I don't see Xbox listed under release dates. Was it just simply the same as PC and PS2, or is it unknown? -- 06:01, 20 January 2021 (CET)
- Well, according to Wikipedia, the Xbox release was the same as PS2. It's weird that the Xbox release is not mentioned in the infobox, I guess it was just a mistake. --Elite Piranha 06:42, 20 January 2021 (CET)
Rayman 3 Ending
I'm pretty sure this has been discussed before, but I can't seem to find a mention of this on the Wiki and I feel like it's significant enough that I should at least push for it to be looked at. So as we know the ending of Rayman 3 shows how André was born by being scared as a Red Lum. He dramatically turns and then flies into the screen - which then cuts to black.
An item that I remember being the cause of debate ages back, was that there was a voice urging Rayman to wake up after this cut ("Rayman! Quick! Wake Up!"). If you were to look at the PC version (at least the GoG version I usually play), this voice isn't present. However having recently played the PS2 and GCN versions, I can confirm that the voice is present in those. Here's some video evidence to validate what I'm saying. (This is from the emulated US GCN version)
That does sound a lot like Murfy don't it? But either ways, should we log this on the Wiki? It is part of some versions of the game. --Master (talk) 23:06, 2 October 2023 (CEST)
Should handheld versions be included?
User Великий минимус recently added the GBA and N-Gage versions of Rayman 3 to the list of platforms in this article, which I then reverted since those are different games. Today said user has undone my reverted change and added more information about them. To avoid an editing war, I think we should come to a decision on if these belong here or not.
So the question is ultimately, do games released with the same name as the main game, but which are clearly different games, belong in the main article? I went ahead and checked what had been done for other games, and it appears rather inconsistent:
- Rayman 1 does not list the GBC version
- Rayman 2 does list GBC version
- Rayman 3 did not list the GBA/N-Gage versions and does not list the mobile version
- Rayman Raving Rabbids does not list the GBA or DS versions
- Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 does list the DS version
- Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party does list the DS and mobile versions
- Tonic Trouble does list the GBC version
Another thing worth mentioning - in the case of this article, there is already a link to the disambiguation article at the very top, as well as a section for "Portable versions" further down which links to them and states they are different games.
Personally my opinion is that they don't belong. We already seem to have a good system for dealing with this, where at the top of the article we link to a disambiguation article, as is the case with this article, or directly link to the other games, like the Raving Rabbids article does. If we reach a decision here I think we should go back and update the mentioned articles to have them all be consistent with each other. -- 08:44, 13 January 2024 (CET)
- Agreed. I think versions should only be listed together if they share a "core" in the sense that they share the same basic physical levels and ideas (such as the myriad of 3D Rayman 2 versions - R2 GBC might be a retelling but it's not the same core game in that it's a 2D sides roller as opposed to the 3D game, or R1 GBC which may be a similar game but level designs and names are completely different)
- I'd say unless a handheld version is the same as the mainline versions as with Rayman DS or Rayman 3D, keep them separate. --Master (talk) 13:42, 13 January 2024 (CET)
- When handheld versions are separate games and not just ports, like Rayman 1 GBC and Rayman 3 GBA, they belong in their own articles, and their release dates should not appear in the "main" article, because it's not that game that was released on handheld. I have reverted Великий минимус's changes with an explanation and a link to the mobile article if they want to edit things there. And indeed, other articles might have to be updated for consistency's sake. — 13:46, 13 January 2024 (CET)
- I've actioned these, so now all the articles that did log separate games no longer do so but mention that they do have mobile adaptatations instead. I've held off doing so for Tonic Trouble, since I feel we ought to start up an article dedicated to the GBC version first before removing the reference. --Master (talk) 00:42, 26 June 2024 (CEST)
