Dark Rayman is a one-off character that appears only in the North American releases of Rayman Arena for the GameCube and Xbox, as an unlockable, playable character.

Description

Dark Rayman is an evil doppelgänger of Rayman.

His appearance is very similar to that of Rayman, but with a different colour scheme. His shirt is a darker shade of purple, his neckerchief is golden yellow, his shoes are dark orange instead of yellow, and instead of the white ring on the shirt, there is a white X. Both his eyes and gloves are bright red, though his hair and skin remains the same colour.

His origin is unknown, but he is speculated to be an allusion to Bad Rayman, an evil clone of Rayman which appear in the original game. But unlike Bad Rayman, Dark Rayman isn't a mindless clone who copies the exact actions of Rayman or cause death upon touch. He is a being in the flesh, with a mind and a will.

Role in the games

Rayman goes up against his dark counterpart.

In Rayman Arena, Dark Rayman becomes available as a computer controlled opponent when all games in the Pro League are successfully completed. It is then he who will be the only opponent in the Master League, and once this is completed, he will become available to play as a special skin for Rayman.
