The Woods or Forest of Light (called The Clearing in the PS version of Rayman 2) is a location in Rayman 2: The Great Escape and its remakes. Following Rayman and Globox's escape from the Buccaneer, this is the very first "true" level in the game. It is a tutorial level in all versions of the game, in which in all versions other than the PlayStation version, Murfy, a greenbottle, arrives to teach Rayman (and indirectly the player) the basics of the game's controls by walking past the Stones of Thought.

In Revolution, this level may only be accessed once.

Trivia

  • The mosquitoes that buzz around in the level are allusions to Moskito from Rayman, the boss of the similar Dream Forest. They are also allusions to Bzzit in Revolution.
