Stone men are limbless enemies encountered throughout the Rayman series. They appear in the original Rayman game, where they can be found in the Blue Mountains, its Game Boy Color adaptation, where they can be found in Rocky Peaks, and Rayman Origins, where they can be found in Mystical Pique.
In Rayman and its spin-offs
In the original Rayman game, stone men freely wander on their platform, turning backwards when they face an obstacle. There are two types of stone men: those who hit the ground and fire a flame at Rayman, and those who throw lava rocks at him.
Upon being defeated, stone men inevitably resuscitate after a few seconds. The only exception is in the Game Boy Advance version where they get defeated as normal enemies. Notably, Rayman's hits need to be spaced out or they will be ineffective against stone men.

In Rayman Designer
In Rayman Designer, the stone men appear as enemy events in the Mountain and Cave worlds. There are four types of them available in both worlds.
- Lava rock throwing steady stone man - Throws lava rocks without moving.
- Lava rock throwing stone man - Throws lava rocks and moves on the platform.
- Falling lava rock throwing stone man - Throws lava rocks and moves without turning around when reaching an edge.
- Flame launching stone man - Shoots flames and moves on the platform.
In the Game Boy Color version of Rayman
In this game, stone men[1] are found in Rocky Peaks.
Their appearance is very different from that of the stone men in the original Rayman game. They are made of purple rock, have no hands and sport a grey spherical head with two large eyes. They look similar to the defeated Mr Stone with the giant rock totem's head on top of his.
Stone men attack Rayman by throwing their heads in his direction. They can be defeated in two hits, after which their body disappears first, followed by their head.

In Rayman Origins
The stone men make a return in Rayman Origins as the most regular enemies in the mountain world of the game, Mystical Pique. Their appearance in the game was confirmed in the sixth issue of the Daily Bubble on the official blog. Their battle tactics were considerably changed since the original Rayman game. Here, stone men are static enemies, throwing bouncing lava rocks at the heroes from high places. The players can slap the lava rocks back at them, or attack them directly. Like most of the enemies in the game, stone men are bubblized with one single hit, being much weaker than their older counterparts. Some stone men can be seen attached to walls, throwing lava rocks at the heroes; in order to defeat them, the heroes must do a wall run to reach the places where they are attached.
A specific area of the mountain requires the players to run through diagonal platforms while avoiding the lava rocks thrown by a stone man at the end of the path, where a cage must be broken; this is a reference to the classic arcade game Donkey Kong.
Unlike most of the characters encounted in both Rayman and Rayman Origins, their appearance remains remarkably consistent between the two. Stone men along with the Electoons are also the only characters in Rayman Origins to retain Rayman's limbless feature, while the other ones were considerably redesigned to bear limbs.
