Toads are amphibian enemies which appear in Rayman Legends, Rayman Adventures and Rayman Mini. Although similar in species, they shall not be confused with the toads in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, as they bear a less primitive behavior and act more aggressively with Rayman and his friends.

This article is about the amphibian enemies found in Rayman Legends, Rayman Adventures and Rayman Mini. For the creatures in Rayman 3, see Toad.

Description

In appearance, they are considerably different to regular toads, with small legs and arms and no visible webbed fingers. Their most noticeable feature is their green egg-shaped body covered in boils, surrounded by a big loincloth-like belt. They slightly resemble Polokus as he appears in Rayman 2: The Great Escape.

Toads come in three other common variants: Red Toads, who can breathe fire, use flamethrowers and wear jetpacks; Underwater Toads, who fire electric projectiles and wear a diving suit; and Spy Toads, whose rifles also fire electric projectiles, but wear infiltration suits.

A giant version of the them called the Armored Toad is a boss of Toad Story and possibly the leader of all toads.

Appearances

Rayman Legends

In Rayman Legends, toads are, along with the Lividstones, the most common kind of enemies in the game. They are mostly found in Toad Story.

Toads act as wild barbarians, and invade small towns populated by defenseless Teensies, causing war and disaster. They usually just carry a machete with them, though some will also carry a wooden shield, which can be outsmarted with Murfy's tickle ability or just with a stronger punch. Some toads prefer standing on stilts to avoid danger, and can be defeated by reaching their altitude or simply calling Murfy to break their stilts. Their strategies also involve air ambush with parachutes, similar to those used by the Lividstones. Some toads will even run at Rayman with their machetes, making a battle cry. Like most of the enemies, toads can be defeated with one hit.

Rayman Adventures

In Rayman Adventures, toads are also found in Toad Story and behave identically to those in Rayman Legends.

Rayman Mini

In Rayman Mini, toads of a regular size are found in the Rabbit Hole and the Trunk, where they act as bosses for those worlds. From version 1.3.0 onwards, they also appear in "Life on a String", the music level set in the Trunk.

The single toad from the Rabbit Hole stomps the floor, causing the tunnels to collapse, while those from the Trunk shoot at the heroes using the same guns and electric projectiles as the Underwater Toads from Rayman Legends. One of them can be defeated by being crushed with spikes.
