Rabbids Go Home is the Nintendo DS version of Rabbids Go Home for the Nintendo Wii, that was released to coincide with the Wii version's release. Unlike the console version of the game, it is a strategy-based puzzle game akin to games such as The Incredible Machine and Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis. It is also the first and only game in the Rabbids series to have enhanced camera features only for use on the DSi/3DS/2DS, and is the last game in the series to be released on the Nintendo DS.
Gameplay

The gameplay of this version is similar to that of the console version in the sense that the player has a Rabbid ride inside a shopping cart and collect items for the Rabbids' moon pile, before transporting down a toilet. The exception is that rather than being a platformer, the player has to solve a puzzle by using whatever utilities the player has for each puzzle, and depending on where these are placed, the Rabbid in the shopping cart will move by itself. Not every utility has to be used in order to solve the puzzle. At least one object must be collected before the Rabbid can go down the toilet, though it is possible for all items (if there is more than one) to be collected.
Verminators
In later levels, a Verminator appears to sabotage parts of the puzzle. This can range from shooting green inflatable barriers in the trolley Rabbid's path, to shooting a green mask over the rocket punches, making them unable to punch Rabbids and objects. The only way to revert this and solve the puzzle it to tap the green sabotages away with the stylus. In the bonus levels they shoot green barriers over the containers blocking the projectiles, and the only way to remove those it to use a toiler paper roll that it on fire to burn it away. They also shoot bombs which empty the containers, and spike balls that cause the projectiles to explode upon contact. There is no way of destroying these and the only way around them is to draw certain lines that redirect the projectiles.
Levels
There are five areas in the game. Every area consists of 3 sections, or "Zones", that have 10 puzzles each. There's an 11th bonus level that's required to unlock the next Zone on the player's first play through on a fresh save file. All but the bonus level in each Zone ends by going down a toilet, while in the 10th level, the Rabbid goes down a portable toilet (WC). Each of the bonus levels also unlocks an item to use in the build mode. To unlock the third bonus Zone of each area the player must 100% (gold) at least 1 Zone from the area. The areas are as follows:
- Building Site
- Miami
- Theme Park
- Las Vegas
- Dump
Bonus Levels
These bonus levels represent the moon pile in which the player has to catch items. This is done by drawing lines with the stylus to guide the items into a container, as it is being shot out of a cannon by a Rabbid. If the player touches a line after it has been drawn, it will be converted into a trampoline which will make the items bounce off of it in the opposite direction. The main 2 items are pink toilet paper, like in the Dump area, and a helmet. Sometimes a container will be on fire which makes the toilet paper burn. In this case, only helmets will work. Sometimes the cannon will shoot out a bomb which will make the items in the container fly out. The player has to either draw a line to block it or make it bounce away with a trampoline. Sometimes a Verminator will show up and spawn mines in the air which makes any objects explode if they touch them. The player can destroy them by using the bombs from a Rabbid's cannon. The Verminator can also shoot a green line that covers a container and the only way to get rid of it, is for the player to guide a bomb to it so it explodes while touching it.
Utilities
Throughout the game the player is given several utilities to help them solve a puzzle. These range from Helium Balloons to raise objects into the air, to Dogs to chase the Rabbids, and even Washing Machines to teleport objects and Rabbids.
- Scissors: Mainly used to cut ropes.
- Girders: These often fill gaps on the floor.
- Bulls: These huge creatures kick Rabbids or objects with their hind legs, propelling them in the direction behind them.
- Safes: These are often attached to ropes and used to weigh things down.
- Ropes: Ropes can be attached to most other objects, including Rabbids.
- Bowling balls: Used to crush small boxes, destructible walls and some other objects.
- Rocket Punches: These propel Rabbids and objects in the direction the boxing glove is facing. They come in diagonal red ones, or vertical blue ones.
- Balloons: Full of helium, they rise, often taking objects underneath them with them.
- Helium tanks: These cause Rabbids to inflate and float upwards temporarily.
- Destructible walls: These are often uses as gap fillers, and can be broken by heavy objects.
- Boomboxes: These cause Rabbids to bounce on the ground, and are often used in conjunction with destructible floors.
- TVs: Used to distract Rabbids until they are broken.
- Washing Machines: These are often used to teleport Rabbids or objects, and come in three different colours.
- Dogs: These chase Rabbids and often bite them.
Challenges
Throughout the game, the player can unlock different challenge modes. In total, there are 4 and each one has 20 puzzles. The player must get a silver completion on the puzzle to unlock the next one. The puzzles can be 100% (gold) like normal levels, but it doesn't unlock anything. Unlike the main game, the first 3 challenges only involve Rabbids without a Shopping Cart Rabbid.
Air-bunny
"Pick up as many objects as you can without your Rabbid touching the ground."
This challenge involves placing puzzle utilities like in normal levels, but instead of there being a Shopping Cart Rabbid, it's a single Rabbid. The Rabbid needs to use the various utilities to pick up point orbs, instead of objects, without touching the ground.
Addicted to TV
"Place 2 Rabbids under each TV set so they don't miss their favourite TV show."
This challenge doesn't require placing any puzzle utilities, but rather the player can manipulate the various items and walls, floors, ect. instead. When they are touched by the player, the "double arrow" icon appears allowing them to rotate it.
Rabbids, go away!
"Take Advantage of the Rabbids' snooze to eject them all off the screen."
This challenge involves using puzzle utilities to manipulate the sleeping Rabbids to walk off or fly off the edge of the screen. Unlike the other challenges, this one requires the player to complete the entire objective, and not just the minimum, to beat the level.
A toilet, a shopping cart.
"Objects galore! Position the shopping cart and toilet to pick up as many items as possible."
This challenge involves placing the Shopping Cart Rabbid and the Toilet in an already designed puzzle. The player has to collect point orbs instead of objects, similar to Air-bunny.

DSi Enhanced Edition Features
"Create a funny scene with these Rabbid animations!"
If the game is being run on a DSi or a 3DS/2DS (while playing the DSi Enhanced Edition), the player can access an extra feature on the main menu, where they can take a picture of something with either of the console's cameras. There are buttons on the touch screen that allow the player to manipulate the image in various ways.
Section 1
"First step, choose an animation"
When the [1] button is selected, two [<|>] buttons appear in the bottom left, allowing the player to cycle through one of 6 animations for the Rabbid to perform. The ▲ menu is disabled on this screen.
Section 2
"Second Step, take a picture"
When the [2] button is selected, an image button appears in the bottom left which allows the player to take a picture for the background. A picture is required to be taken for the ■ button to become the ▶ button, which allows the animation to play and for the image to be saved. The ▲ menu on the bottom right also becomes available that has several options:
- Changing the camera to be flipped vertically or not
- Applying one of 5 colour filters
- Cycling through one of 4 camera modes
- Switching between the front facing or rear facing cameras
Section 3
"Third Step, use the mask to hide the Rabbids"
When the [3] button is selected, the player can add a mask to the image on the layer above the Rabbid. The ▲ menu is available again that has several more options:
- Modify Mask: Switches the opacity of the mask between 50% or none
- Edit Mask: Eraser for erasing parts of the mask, which are the only parts that show the Rabbid in the final image
- Move Mask: Allows the mask to be moved around with the stylus
- New Mask: Resets the mask to the default unedited state
