The Sanctuary of Rock and Lava

The Sanctuary of Rock and Lava is a level in Rayman 2: The Great Escape. It is the last of the sanctuaries to bear one of the Four Masks of Polokus, which is actually beneath the sanctuary, and is the second one to be filled with lava. In Rayman Revolution it's called Beneath the Lava Sanctuary or Beneath the Sanctuary of Lava. It also features a new mini-boss called Chenille, a larger redish version of the shadow creatures.

This sanctuary is located deep in the marshlands, and inside the temple are steams of lava and thickets of thorns. Rayman can avoid these by standing on floating umbrella plants (similar to the flower platforms from the previous Rayman game), which carry him though the thorny pits, but eventually either wither away or get burned.

The level continues as a separate level set beneath the sanctuary, where the Lava mask is really hidden.

The Sanctuary of Rock and Lava The Sanctuary of Rock and Lava ← The Top of the World Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava → The Walk of Power Original version Phase 1 The level begins in a swamp, the entrance to The walk of Power can be found to the left, when Rayman get's trough the swamp he can see the entrance to the sanctuary. Inside he finds a floating flower, which takes him to the lower floor, but he has to break the walls on the way. Once there, he has to jump off pillars, and turn on a switch to get trough the door. Phase 2 Once out of the door, Rayman see's a tower with falling lava, he has to climb it with purple lums. When he climbs it and get's out of the room, he has to turn on a switch in a room full of caterpillars, and time it correctly to jump trough a little gap. Once out of that, he stands in a hall where walls with boobytraps to push him off the platforms. At the end, a teensie's cage can be found.
