Beneath the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava is a level in Rayman 2: The Great Escape. It is a continuation of the previous level, the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava as it is set inside the same temple, and it is where the third of Polokus' masks is really hidden. It is also the only level in the game in which Rayman can use his helicopter to fly. It's called The Lava Sanctuary or The Sanctuary of Lava in Rayman Revolution.

Description

This is an underground level which consists of long rivers of lava and thorny tunnels, which Rayman cannot pass without flying. At the beginning of the level, Ly the Fairy appears before him and grants him the power to use his helicopter to fly with a Silver Lum. Often throughout the level Rayman is blown away by giant fans, and he has to keep his flight under control to prevent damage to himself.

By the end of the level, he encounters Foutch, who knocks him down with such a forceful blow he loses his power, but then has to fight him. When Foutch is defeated, he is finally rewarded with the thrid mask. In Revolution, Rayman regains super helicopter power to fly above lava.

Phase 1

Rayman falls out of a passage in the cieling with a teensie stone in it. When Rayman lands on the ground he will look around the room.... noticing he's trapped! Then Ly appears, telling Rayman that she has some good and bad news. The bad news is that everything is getting harder from there. The good news is that she has enough power to give Rayman the ability to fly. (this can only be used in this level) Now, Rayman has to get in the big passage up the cieling in the middle of the room.

Phase 2

This part of the level is similiar to the passage in Phase 1. But this time Rayman has to avoid to get hit by the lava waterfalls and the thorny walls. After a while Rayman will see a open room in the wall.... he has to get in there fast to break the cage in it. Then, just head back of of the room and go in the main tunnel. When Rayman reaches the end of the tunnel he sees a door, the door will open if he get's close. Behind the door is a room filled with yellow lava... in the middle of the lava there's a pit. When Rayman fly's to the middle of the room the camera view will change so you can see behind him.... and then Foutch will hit him with he's fist. Resulting Rayman to fall in the fiery pit. There, he has to defeat Foutch, after that he will need to grab the purple lum to get on the bridge and go to the little tower in the middle of the room, in the building is a hole. When Rayman falls in the hole he will see a room with the 3rd mask.
