The Top of the World is a location in Rayman 2. It follows the Precipice and is the thirteenth level in the original and Dreamcast versions of the game, but it does not appear in the PlayStation version, Rayman 2 Forever and Rayman Revolution, although in the latter its two segments are still present, in the form of the Roller Coaster Challenge minigame and the second half of the Echoing Caves.

The globe's peak is a high-tech Robo-Pirate fortress located far from civilization. The only way to reach the hidden fort is via a speeding chair. The fortress itself is intensely patrolled solely by Barrel Pirates, though Gorilla Pirates and small outposts guard the entrance. The fortress is characterized by its many red carpet-filled hallways. With only two segments, one of which is just the chair ride, it is one of the shortest levels in the game.

The Top of the World was originally called "The Roof of the World".[1]

Phase 1

Rayman must defeat the Gorilla Pirate and jump onto the chair to enter a Robo-Pirate base, avoiding all obstacles in the way.

Phase 2

As Rayman arrives in the Top of the World's Robo-Pirate installation, an alarm begins to sound. The Barrel Pirates patrolling the corridors are on the alert, and soon Rayman must defeat several of them. After passing through many crate-filled storage areas, he discovers that the level's Teensie cage is nowhere near the exit. He must backtrack to search out the Teensie, which is hidden in a secret passageway; after freeing the Teensie, Rayman must escort him to the end of the level. The Teensie is not found in a cage, instead relaxing on a throne and only getting up when Rayman unblocks the door.

The level is identical to that of the original version.

PlayStation 2 version

The level is not present in this version. The first segment on the level exists as a minigame, titled Roller Coaster Challenge. It contains 20 Red Lums instead of the 33 Yellow Lums. The Green Lum checkpoint is also absent. The second segment of this level exists as phase 3 of the Echoing Caves.
