This article is about amphibian enemies in Rayman Legends and Rayman Adventures. For the creatures in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, see Toad.

Toads are amphibian enemies who inhabit the paintings in Rayman Legends, and along with the Lividstones, they are the most common kind of enemies in the game. Although similar in species, they shall not be confused with the toads in Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, as they bear a less primitive behavior and act more aggressively with Rayman and his friends. They make a second appearance in Rayman Adventures and a third appearance in Rayman Mini.

Toads act as wild barbarians, and invade small towns populated by defenseless Teensies, causing war and disaster. They usually just carry a machete with them, though some will also carry a wooden shield, which can be outsmarted with Murphy's tickle ability or just with a stronger punch. Some Toads prefer standing on stilts to avoid danger, and can be defeated by reaching their altitude or simply calling Murphy to break their stilts. Their strategies also involve air ambush with parachutes, similar to those used by the Lividstones. Some will use guns that their underwater counterparts use to shoot Rayman with electric bullets. Some Toads will even run at Rayman with their machetes, making a battle cry. Like most of the enemies, Toads can be defeated with one hit, except in Rayman Mini, where they can only be defeated by being crushed with spikes.

Appearance

In appearance, they are considerably different to regular toads, with small legs and arms and no visible webbed fingers. Their most noticeable feature is their green egg-shaped body covered in boils, surrounded by a big loincloth-like belt. They slightly resemble Polokus as he appears in Rayman 2: The Great Escape. A giant version of the them called Armored Toad is a boss of Toad Story and possibly the leaders of all Toads. There's another variety of toad called a Red Toad, that can breathe fire and that wears jetpacks.
