Helmet birds, codenamed Darkbirds on the game's files and wrongly nicknamed Viking birds on the launch site, are bird enemies that inhabit the Desert of Dijiridoos in Rayman Origins.
They are static enemies always found in groups sitting on staffs, much like the notebirds and the bumper notebirds from the same area. Players must not jump on their heads, as they have them covered by harmful spiky helmets. Players can make helmet birds disappear by pressing the switch that disables the staff, though they can return if the players enable it again. To make helmet birds disappear permanently, the players must bubblize them with a slap; like most of the enemies in the game, helmet birds can be easily defeated with one single attack, and will add lums to the player's score. In appearance, helmet birds are yellow in colour, with small orange beaks and slanted eyelids, and wear a dark-blue spiky helmet with an Ace of Spades clipped to it.
